iPad 2 mania still set for Friday

Despite a hefty dose of speculation that the iPad 2 launch will be delayed in the UK, an Apple spokesperson has confirmed to TechRadar it is still on for Friday.

Many suspected that the launch of the skinny new Apple tablet would be pushed back due to stock demand in the US – a similar thing happened with the launch of the first iPad last year.

However, Apple told us, "Everything that is on the website still holds true; the website says 25 March and that's when it'll be."

T minus four days

Other countries are looking at a delay to the much-lauded iPad 2 – the Japanese and Czech launches havebeen pushed back to 25 April, although in Japan's case this could be due to the current crises faced by the country.

[Update: looks like the Czech delays wereactually down to a translation error!]

In the US, where the iPad 2 went on sale on 11 March, demand for the double-camera'd, A5 chip-toting tablet has been phenomenal, with sales hitting 300,000 units on the first day alone.

Will we be going iPad-crazy on 25 March? Youbetcha. TechRadar will be out in force reporting on all the hilarious queue-based shenanigans and hopefully nabbing further questionable comments from bemused policemen.

1. No delays please - got to send out my Ipad on Wednesday as already sold. By the way - nearly 1 year old and sold for £285 so having this brilliant gadget has cost me £144 - people often forget how Apple products keep amazing values meaning it is very reasonable to keep up to date all the time. Roll on Friday.
