Euphoria season 3 was the last thing I thought I’d be excited for in 2026, but its action-packed trailer has hypnotized me like a moth to a flame
Oh Zendaya, you've done it again
This year’s movie and TV calendar is already packed with must-see titles, but there’s one HBO Max show that I never thought I’d be excited to see return: Of course, I’m talking about Euphoria season 3.
The teen drama series led by the fabulous Zendaya, who plays troubled high schooler Rue, is set to make its highly anticipated return on April 12, which means we’ll finally get to see where her character and array of problematic friends have found themselves five-years on from the events of season two.
Given the third season's delayed rollout and various productions hiccups, my bitter anger towards the show and its creator for making me wait so long between seasons grew substantially, leading me to lose all interest in its upcoming final chapter. But lo and behold, the Euphoria season three trailer drops, and I hate to admit defeat, but it looks bloody great.
I blame you Sam Levinson
It’s been a wild ride for the HBO Max show to say the least, but its multiple production delays and the seemingly flippant attitude of its creator Sam Levinson have been main driving forces for the grave disappointment in the fanbase – as I mentioned, it’s been difficult to put my own anger aside.
Though I can’t fault some of its production delays – the LA wildfires, writers' strikes, and untimely deaths of Angus Cloud and executive producer Kevin Turen have all had a significant impact – my frustration has been projected mainly towards Levinson. While unavoidable circumstances delayed production, we would’ve had Euphoria season 3 much sooner if Levinson wasn’t allegedly picking fights with the stars and production team.
One of the actors we won’t be seeing in season three is Barbie Ferreira, who departed following alleged conflict with Levinson over her beloved character’s storyline. There are some rumors that link her exit from the show to a toxic work environment while working on Euphoria season 2.
But that’s not all, as even Zendaya reportedly had her share of hostility with Levinson over his rumored undivided focus on producing the limited series The Idol, which turned out to be one of the most god awful pieces of television ever made. In hindsight, this was wasted time that could’ve been better spent on Euphoria season 3.

Euphoria season 3's dramatic trailer has me locked in
I wanted to hate Euphoria season 3 so badly, but since the trailer dropped it’s all I can think about. It confirmed a lot of fan theories, but also spilled a handful of unexpected surprises: Nate (Jacob Elordi) and Cassie’s (Sydney Sweeney) wedding being the shining star given their dramatic breakup in season two. This also raises questions about the whereabouts of Nate’s ex and Cassie’s former best friend Maddie (Alexa Demie), who’s by far the most iconic of the bunch.
But what’s gripped me the most is Rue’s run-in with ruthless drug lord Laurie to whom she’s $10,000 in debt to (a plotline that I’m relieved wasn’t totally forgotten about). Laurie’s five year-long hunt for Rue appears to hint at a violent and life-threatening conclusion that won’t go down smoothly. Rue has found herself in her most vulnerable position yet, but we won’t know if she’ll make it out alive until the final season drops in April.
