Maxton Hall season 3 has already been confirmed – but the season 2 finale might have revealed when we’ll see it
Warning: spoilers for Maxton Hall season 2 episode 6 ahead.
I've spent weeks trying to work out if James (Damian Hardung) and Ruby (Harriet Herbig-Matten) would be happily together by the end of Maxton Hall season 2... but that was naive thinking, wasn't it?
Season 2 episode 5 was already a total disaster for them, with Ruby's future compromised by losing her scholarship with local influential businesswoman Alice Campbell (Proschat Madani). Add to this the fact that James' dad, Mortimer (Fedja van Huêt), hates the two of them together and has essentially had a breakdown, things were only going one way.
Thanks to season 2 episode 6's shock cliffhanger (which we'll get to in a minute), a Ruby-James reunion feels less likely than ever. But given that Prime Video has already renewed Maxton Hall season 3, I think it's a dead giveaway that we'll be seeing new episodes sooner rather than later.
Maxton Hall season 2 episode 6 has destroyed Ruby's life, but that's good news for season 3
If losing her scholarship wasn't enough, Mortimer irrational decision-making mean her family has lost its bakery altogether. Ruby's mom has also been fired, meaning she can't even work there if somebody else is running it.
Amazingly, that's not even the worst of it. After being photographed with Graham Sutton (Eidin Jalali) – our new Vice Principal, who got James' sister Lydia (Sonja Weißer) pregnant – she's been suspended from Maxton Hall altogether. Why? The photo was sent straight to Lexington (Thomas Douglas), and given everything that's happened between Graham and Lydia, you can see the confusion.
Graham also gets suspended and carted off by police, but frankly, this is the least he deserves. Poor Ruby has just been caught up in the middle, with other people taking their feelings out on her in the worst way.

If we're being honest, the season 2 finale was always going to have an explosive fallout. We know the original Maxton Hall book series is made up of three novels, so it makes natural sense for Maxton Hall season 3 to be the final hurrah.
Following in the footsteps of The Summer I Turned Pretty, Ruby and James likely won't get together until the season 3 finale, making any episodes from here Ruby's redemption arc (not that she's actually done anything wrong). Rumors suggest the new season has already been filmed, and social media posts certainly confirm that filming began a few months ago.
Put all this together and I think we're likely to see Maxton Hall season 3 earlier in 2026 than we first thought. Less time in between seasons would keep up the momentum of the season finale, and if you're going to go out with a bang... this is the way to do it.
Amazon hasn't announced a release date yet, but I'm hopeful that it's going to come soon.
