The TWS earbuds competition is soon to get more intense now that Oppo is launching its premium Enco Air 2 Pro on April 12. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer is expected to launch the premium headphone on the same day they showcase the Oppo F21 and F21 Pro smartphones.

It is rumoured that the new premium TWS earbuds are expected to retain the familiar design of the Oppo Enco Air 2 that was launched recently. The Enco Air 2 Pro may come in a case with a translucent top cover.

The Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro is expected to launch in White and Grey colours according to tipster Mukul Sharma’s tweet which shares details about the specifications of the TWS earbuds.

Oppo’s Enco Air 2 Pro earbuds are hinted to provide a max usage of 20 hours with ANC turned on. Turning off noise cancellation will provide additional 8 hours. The charging case is said to have a 440 mAh battery pack which juices up each of the 43 mAh batteries in the earbuds. Charging up the buds is hinted to take 1.5 hours but could take up to hours to charge them with the case.

Oppo’s upcoming TWS earbuds are expected to feature a 12.4mm titanized diaphragm driver which is smaller than the 13.4mm driver that comes on the Enco Air 2. The TWS earbuds may come with Bluetooth 5.2 for better connectivity. We would have to wait until the launch to find out how these compare with each other in terms of performance.

Other features of the Enco Air 2 Pro are standard on many TWS earbuds like a touch-sensitive sensor for playback controls, opening either Siri or Google Assistant and answering calls handsfree.

Pricing is critical for an upper hand

Oppo’s premium Enco X TWS earbuds had received a positive response for their audio quality. Although we are yet to review the Enco Air 2, expectations are high for the premium variant. It would all come down to the pricing that would be announced for the Enco Air 2 Pro to put it on a level playing field with competing devices in the market.

Moreover, many companies are now bringing premium features to more affordable price points. One such example is recently launched TWS earbuds with noise cancellation like the Boat Airdopes 411 ANC and the Boult AirBass Encore X that compete with the Enco Air 2.
