Alia Bhatt and her wedding to actor Ranbir Kapoor was the headlines all over last week. The talented actress reportedly went back to shoot for Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani soon after her wedding-related festivities. In a sense, that is not surprising. For her film career is in fine fettle. Her performances are getting spectacular with each outing.

In a decade, she has indeed come a long way since her gawky debut in the garish Student of the Year in 2012. One need to look no further than her last film Gangubhai Kathiawadi. (Okay, technically her last film was the Telugu blockbuster RRR, but she was in it in a walk-in role. She had her differences with the maker for shrinking her role).

Gangubhai Kathiawadi will stream from April 26

Gangubai Kathiawadi was out and out her show, and it did well when it was released in theatres in February. It's the story of a young girl named Ganga who becomes Gangubai, a 'madam' in the red-light area of Kamathipura. It is said to be loosely based on the true story of Gangubai Harjivandas, popularly known as Gangubai Kothewali, whose life was documented in the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai written by S Hussain Zaidi.

Now Gangubai Kathiawadi is ready for the OTT circuit. It will stream on Netflix from April 26, the streamer announced. It also features Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa and Ajay Devgn.

The film is a period drama by the master of the genre Sanjay Leela Bhansali. "Gangubai Kathiawadi is a very special film for me and we are humbled by the phenomenal response it has received globally. While the film has encouraged audiences to come back to the theatres, I am elated that the film will now reach even wider audience within India and around the world with Netflix," he said.

Meanwhile, apart from Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, Alia will be seen in Brahmastra alongside Ranbir Kapoor. The movie is scheduled to release on September 9. It is said to be a mix of mythology and science fiction. As we said, it is all happening for Alia Bhatt.
