Domestic EV manufacturer Svitch MotoCorp plans to launch CSR 762, a new electric motorcycle, in India by July or August this year. The bike is powered by a 3 kW electric motor and it can peak up to 10 kW at 1300 RPM. The top speed of the electric motorcycle will be 110 kmph with a range of 120 km.
The vehicle is priced around Rs 1.65 lakh, and after State subsidies it may be available around close to Rs 1.25 lakh. The company said it is also planning to install battery swapping stations. But it would depend on what the government rules are going to be.
The electric motor bike had a soft launch in November 2021.
An e-bike inspired by Asiatic Lions
A PMSM motor is being used with a central drive system. It is supported by the Li-ion, nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery capacity ranging up to 3.7kWh. It has a seat height of 780 mm and it is an accessible motorcycle for Indians. The wheelbase boasts 1430 mm & the curb weight and the weight capacity are 155 kg & 200 kg respectively. There will be 6 different riding modes available --- 3 driving modes, 1 parking mode, 1 reverse mode & 1 sports mode.
The company said that the source thought behind the design language of the CSR 762 is Gujarat’s Majestic Asiatic Lions. The CSR 762, now in the certification stages, is done with the internal testing part.
Rajkumar Patel, Founder of Svitch said, "The CSR 762 packs in a complete on-road riding experience which lays out a very strong notion that it is indeed a luxury for the layman. The vision to create CSR 762 is aimed at providing luxury, style, and sustainability all together for the biking enthusiasts."
The company is also actively seeking channel partners (dealers and distributors) to further enlarge the reach of CSR 762 project. The company says that its primary focus, to start off, is on Tier-1 cities. The vehicle is meant for the city commute segment.
At a time when the two-wheeler EV segment is being dominated by e-scooters, it is good that a motorcycle is also getting into the scheme of things.
