My beloved Sage coffee machine is on sale – and so is the dream machine I want to upgrade to

I'll admit I'm a bit obsessive about my coffee. It occupies that same place in my soul that other people reserve for community or spirituality: it gives my life meaning. Given I'm constantly thinking about better ways to get my caffeine fix, I was thrilled to discover that there are currently sweeping 10% discounts off a range of coffee machines at Argos.

This includes my trusty Sage Bambino Plus, which has been reduced to £360 (was £400) when you use the code COFFEE10 at checkout. This is a seriously agreeable price for a nigh-on barista-quality machine. Given it's consistently served me cracking coffee and gotten me through many a sleepy day, it's been a very worthy purchase and I'm extremely loyal to it.

Or so I thought. That was until I saw that my caffeine dream machine also has 10% off – the automatic bean-to-cup Sage Barista Touch is on offer at £945 (was £1,050). If ever a coffee gadget was going to tempt me to stray, it would be this one – it's happily up there with the best bean-to-cup coffee machines out there. Historically, it has always been slightly out of reach for me but, at this reduced price, it's suddenly much harder to resist the temptation to upgrade.

Not a Sage fan? Don't fret: there are plenty of excellent deals on other brands included in Argos's sale. For example, the 4.5-star Smeg Espresso Coffee Machine EGF03 is on offer for £629.95 (was £699.95), while you can grab the Ninja Luxe Cafe Pro for £630 (was £700). Even cheap and cheerful coffee machines are available; for example the De'Longhi Stilosa Espresso Coffee Machine is available for £94.50 (was £105).

Sage Barista Touch: was £1,050 now £945 at Argos

The Sage Barista Touch makes it a breeze to produce your favourite coffees at the press of a button. Select a drink from its touch screen and it will dose and grind your beans, express your espresso and perfectly foam your milk. And with a whopping £105 off using the code COFFEE10, it's even easier to access top-notch coffee whenever you crave it.

As an inveterate caffeine addict, I've been a big fan of Sage's coffee machines for a long time. In fact, The Bambino Plus has taken pride of place in my kitchen for several years now: I genuinely would not be able to do this job without the sweet hit of caffeine it provides.

It's no surprise we awarded this machine 4.5 stars in our Sage Bambino Plus review. I've always found it warms up super-fast, being ready to start jetting out my black nectar within seconds, while its Auto MilQ steam wand allows you to precisely dial in the height and foam levels you want for your milk, taking the faff out of creating incomparable cappuccinos. Even my partner, a relative newcomer to the world of espresso machines, finds it easy to recreate her favourite foamy drinks with our Bambino Plus.

But I will admit that I've started dreaming of potential upgrades – and I've had my eye on the Sage Barista Touch for the longest time. Not only does it do away with the stress and mess of grinding my own beans, its one-touch interface and bean-to-cup extraction is deeply appealing to the lazy coffee snob in me. Moreover, the fact it allows you to create personalised coffee presets is fantastic, meaning my partner and I could each have our coffee exactly as strong or velvety as we prefer without any fiddly tinkering with grind size or tamping pressure.

Even if you don't share my adoration of the Sage Barista Touch, there are fortunately so many other fantastic options available in this sale. Whether you prefer Ninja, Smeg or De'Longhi, there are loads of espresso machines and coffee makers available for 10% off with the code COFFEE10. So make sure you pick up your new fave beverage brewer before the sale expires on 7 October 2025.
