I love buying and owning the latest and most powerful tech, but if I'm honest with myself, it's not always needed. Processor technology is advancing rapidly, but not so quickly that we should discount slightly older models and consign them to the scrap heap. That's why I'm recommending the Apple MacBook Air 13-inch (M2) on sale at Best Buy for $699 (was $799).

This $100 discount sees the powerful Apple laptop drop to a record-low price and become even more tempting than it was at full price. We love it for its powerful M4 chip, gorgeous 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display with 500 nits of brightness, and impressive 18-hour battery life. An all-around and efficient laptop for under $700 doesn't get much better than this.

There's little not to love about the Apple MacBook Air 13-inch (M2), as evidenced by our 4.5-star rating. We were running out of positive superlatives by the end of the review. “Fantastic new design”, “incredibly long battery life”, and “ideal for students” are only the beginning.

The M2 processor paired with the portable design of the Air is a match made in heaven. This is a laptop you can take with you, work remotely, and have with you during lessons at college. You'll want the M4 or MacBook Pro if you're doing high-end photo and video work, but the M2 will be more than sufficient for almost everything else.

The MacBook Air is always a good range for those seeking the best student laptops – and this is no different. If you'd like to explore your options, then we recommend checking out all the latest MacBook deals before purchasing.
