The Palm Pixi, the latest phone to bring the new webOS platform, has been spotted looking ready for a UK launch.

Like the Palm Pre before it, the new GSM version of the Pixi has popped up in Vietnam on Tinhte.com, a consumer electronics forum.

It shows the phone with a Europe-friendly SIM slot, but worryingly only running on the Edge network (the same the first iPhone used, which is dramatically slower than current 3G speeds).

However, this could easily just be because of the location of the photography, and the US version is definitely packing the faster connection, so it would be a surprise should the UK Pixi be a slower than its international amigos.

What's under the hood?

The US version of the Pixi also totes 8GB internal storage, but the European version is showing only 4GB, which is more in line with the earlier rumoured specs.

The good news is this means the UK version of the Pixi might not be as far behind the US launch as our version of the Pre was.

Back then, the Pre launched in the US in June, and pictures of the GSM-friendly version leaked in late July, just prior to the announcement.

Seeing as the Pre is due to launch here next week, it makes sense that we could only be waiting until early 2010 to see the Pixi too, which would be a nice way to kick off the new year.
