Microsoft says Office rental 'infringes our license regulations'

Fasthosts is offering Office on a monthly subscription deal

UK web host Fasthosts announced earlier in the week it was to offer Microsoft Office 2007 on a monthly subscription from £5.86 a month. But despite Fasthosts telling us to the contrary, it seems Microsoft is not too happy with the development.

"Fasthosts is a valued Microsoft partner who we have a great relationship with", says Michala Wardell, head of anti-piracy at Microsoft UK. At present, streaming Microsoft products like Office 2007 via the web infringes our license regulations. Fasthosts have been informed of this and we are currently working with them to rectify this situation".
