Only Murders in the Building season 6: key information

- Releases on December 8, 2026
- Will be set in London rather than the Arconia in New York, dubbed 'Only Murders in London'
- Currently filming in the UK
- Core cast will return
- Confirmed guest stars including Jennifer Saunders and Simone Ashley
- Trailer yet to be released

Whenever a season of Only Murders in the Building ends on a cliffhanger — which is every season — we can expect another to follow it. But season 6 of the hit Hulu and Disney+ show is coming to us with a huge change.

Instead of taking place at the iconic Arconia building in New York City, Oliver (Martin Short), Charles (Steve Martin) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) will be taking a trip across the pond to London, UK.

Exact details of what to expect are TBC, but if you've ever seen the episode of Murder, She Wrote where Jessica Fletcher (Angela Lansbury) went over to see her Vaudevillian cousin Emma (also Lansbury), I'm expecting similar levels of camp chaos.

There are some things we know for definite however, including a stacked roster of guest stars. As filming continues in the UK, here's everything we know about Only Murders in the Building season 6 so far.

We've got a confirmed release date! Only Murders in the Building season 6 will return on December 8, 2026. It's currently unknown exactly how episodes will air.

Since the show began in 2021, it's aired one season per year, and has been regularly praised for its pacey release schedule.

Only Murders in the Building season 6 trailer: is there one?

Don't be silly... expect the first full trailer to arrive around four weeks before the sixth season does.

We're expecting the following main cast members to return for Only Murders in the Building season 6:

  • Steve Martin as Charles-Haden Savage
  • Martin Short as Oliver Putnam
  • Selena Gomez as Mabel Mora
  • Michael Cyril Creighton as Howard Morris
  • Meryl Streep as Loretta Durkin-Putnam

We also have the following new guest stars confirmed for season 6, though we don't know what their roles are yet:

  • Jennifer Saunders
  • Sean Teale
  • Simone Ashley
  • Amar Chadha-Patel
  • Rhea Norwood
  • Matthew Beard
  • Sharon Horgan
  • Geri Halliwell Horner
  • Martin Freeman
  • Jamie Demetriou
  • Anjana Vasan
  • Jane Horrocks
  • Derek Jacobi
  • Lesley Nicol
  • David Tennant
  • Nicola Coughlan
  • Jodie Whitaker
  • Jim Broadbent
  • Adrian Lukis
  • Richard Ayoade
  • Kathryn Hunter
  • Olivia Colman

Given the move from the US to the UK, there's a huge question mark surrounding the following guest stars seen in season 5:

  • Renée Zellweger as Camila White
  • Christoph Waltz as Bash Steed
  • Bobby Cannavale as Nicky Caccimelio
  • Téa Leoni as Sofia Caccimelio
  • Dianne Wiest as Lorraine Coluca
  • Beanie Feldstein as Althea
  • Logan Lerman as Jay Pflug
  • Keegan-Michael Key as Mayor Tillman
  • Richard Kind as Vince Fish
  • Jane Lynch as Sazz Pataki

One person who we can expect to see (at least in flashback form) is Tina Fey, as her character, podcaster Cinda Canning, is found bleeding and crawling to the gates of the Arconia in the final scene of season 5.

Only Murders in the Building season 6 plot predictions

Here's the official season 6 synopsis: "After successfully bringing the guilty to justice once again, Charles, Oliver and Mabel embark on their hardest case yet when the next victim — Cinda Canning — arrives at their doorstep, summoning them to London to catch her killer.

"Our beloved trio of true crime-solving podcasters must now navigate their way through the home of the cozy murder mystery, replete with a whole new collection of suspicious and particularly English-eccentric characters. But can they follow in the footsteps of the woman whose podcast started it all for them… without having their story end the same as hers?"

But other than this, we don't know a whole lot about what's to come.

Based on the season 5 finale, we know that Cinda was attacked after returning to the US to hide a woman accused of a royal murder. Who is this woman? We don't know. Is she really guilty? Well, perhaps that's what our trio will be getting stuck into.

Given that this is the first time that Only Murders in the Building has ventured into international territory, anything can happen. Any matter of guest stars we've seen between seasons 1-5 could be picked up or abandoned, and it's likely that even more new cast members could be announced between now and season 6's release.
