  • Prime Video has canceled Motorheads after one season
  • The producers are already on the hunt for a new home
  • Motorheads has a dedicated fanbase who are angered by the news

Amazon's Prime Video has called time on Motorheads after just one season. Fans of the young adult drama are understandably disappointed that one of the best Prime Video shows won't be returning to the streaming service.

Motorheads follows a group of outsiders forms an unlikely friendship over a mutual love of street racing while navigating the hierarchy of high school, and it's been a hit for Prime Video.

I was quite shocked by the decision to cancel as the series has performed very well on Rotten Tomatoes with a 78% critics score and a 95% audience one. But it hasn't done enough to secure a renewal.

That doesn't mean it's the finish line for Motorheads though, as Deadline reported that the producers put out a statement claiming they'll be looking for a new home.

Executive producer Jason Seagraves: “We set out to make a show with no agenda and a lot of heart, to give families something they can watch together.

“While [series creator John A. Norris] and I are disappointed Motorheads won’t be continuing at Prime Video, we couldn’t be more proud of what the team created."

He concluded: "Despite going into release with impossibly low audience awareness, our passionate and vocal fan base led the charge and made the series impossible to ignore. Their enthusiasm has energized us, and we’re optimistic we’ll will find a home that believes in and supports the show.”

How have fans reacted to Motorheads' cancelation?

The short answer is badly!

Motorheads fans seem baffled by the decision to cut the story short, and a petition called Save Motorheads - WE NEED S2 has already gone live. Right now it only has 90 signatures but I'm expecting numbers to start going up as the news spreads.

One frustrated fan commented on the petition saying: "Motorheads is such a good show, it has high numbers and very good reviews and it was believed a second season would follow because of the first season's success, they creators even had high hopes, we can't let this show die.

"We need a second season and more beyond that, the first season ended on a cliff hanger, we can't let it end like that."

Admittedly it takes a lot for a young adult drama to grip me, but I'm also flying the flag to help save Motorheads as it's worthy of more. The fact the first season ended on a cliffhanger is reason enough.

I'm definitely hoping the show gets picked up elsewhere.
