Hero MotoCorp, India's largest two-wheeler manufacturer has unveiled a new brand Vida, for its emerging mobility solutions and upcoming electric vehicles. The first electric vehicle under the Vida brand will be officially unveiled on July 1, 2022. The first model under the Vida brand will be produced at Hero MotoCorp's manufacturing facility in Chittoor. Dispatches to customers will begin later in 2022.

Announcing the new brand name, Dr. Pawan Munjal, Chairman & CEO, Hero MotoCorp said: "The brand’s sole purpose is to create a positive impact on the world and move us all forward in meaningful ways. We believe the name is perfect for what we are building for our children and the next generation." ‘Vida’ means ‘life’ in Spanish and the brand identity is the sunrise in their logo.

But why a separate name?

Hero MotoCorp, it may be recalled, is embroiled with Hero Electric over who gets to use the Hero name in the domain of electric two-wheelers. The matter is sub judice. Vijay Munjal and son Naveen Munjal, owners of Hero Electric, have taken cousin Pawan Munjal to court for the use of the Hero brand name for Hero MotoCorp's soon-to-debut EV range. Till such time Hero MotoCorp needs a new name for its EV. Ergo, Vida.

Vida is the name under which Hero MotoCorp’s initiatives for emerging mobility solutions will be introduced. To cut a long story short, Hero MotoCorp will launch its electric two-wheelers under the Vida name.

Meanwhile, Pawan Munjal has also announced a$100 Million Global Sustainability Fund with the aim of establishing global partnerships, spearheaded by the BML Munjal University (BMU) and Hero MotoCorp, with the objective of nurturing more than 10,000 entrepreneurs on ESG solutions that have a positive impact on the planet.
