If you're an NBA fan, then MR Throwback is for you. Euphoria
Euphoria is regarded as HBO's first attempt at a teen drama, and boy did they knock it out of the park. Don't expect something you'd find on the CW network, though.
Rue (Zendaya) is a drug-addicted 17-year old who returns from rehab with absolutely no plan to stay clean. Rue's world includes Jules (Hunter Schafer), a transgender girl who attempts to push the boundaries of her sexuality, Nate (Jacob Elordi), an easily-angered insecure jock, Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), who is haunted by her sexual reputation, and the body-conscious Kat (Barbie Ferreira).
A third season is reportedly in the works, Euphoria's two raw seasons are well worth watching whether the story is added to or not.

Succession
I bet you never thought you'd find yourself rooting for billionaire's, but somehow Succession makes it happen. Spawned on by a health scare, business magnate Logan Roy (Brian Cox) attempts to decide which of his children will inherit his business after he dies.
Will it be heir apparent Kendall (Jeremy Strong)? The Loki-like trickster Roman (Kieran Culkin)? Or perhaps it'll be liberal outsider Siobhan – also known as Shiv (Sarah Snook). What follows is a delectable power struggle between the siblings. Smart and acid-tongued, Succession swept the Emmys in 2020 for a reason.

The Sympathizer
Starring Robert Downey JR, The Sympathizer is a black comedy and historical drama set near the end of the Vietnam War, following a Vietnamese spy who flees to the United States, continuing to spy and report back to the Viet Cong while living in a refugee community. Wonderfully weird and led by brilliant performances, The Sympathizer is definitely worth checking out.

Chernobyl
Truly one of the best min-series we've ever seen, Chernobyl tells the harrowing tale the worst man-made disaster in human history – the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear accident. This HBO miniseries details the arrogance that led to the event, its impact and the Soviet cleanup (and cover-up) that came after.
While it might take a few moments to get used to Ukrainian and Russian characters speaking with British accents, you quickly get over it because the performances (from actors like Jarred Harris, Stellan Skarsgård and Emily Watson) are so good. The show oozes authenticity at every turn – from its use of real locations to its exceptionally accurate retelling of events – Chernobyl is bound to go down as the definitive dramatisation of this horrific event and one of the best of its kind.

Mr. Robot
One of the most relevant and gripping television shows of our time, Mr. Robot follows a group of hackers who attempt to take down the world's biggest corporation.
We follow Elliot (Rami Malek), hacker-extraordinaire and cybersecurity engineer, as he orchestrates histories biggest hack, all while battling social anxiety disorder and clinical depression – among other problems. But is he really the one in charge, or are darker, more sinister forces pulling the strings? Mr. Robot really is a modern masterpiece of television.

The Deuce
Set in gritty 1970s New York City, this series from David Simon (The Wire, Generation Kill) follows a number of characters operating around Times Square during its sleazy heyday. This includes a pair of twin brothers (James Franco in both roles), a college dropout (Margarita Levieva), several prostitutes (including Maggie Gyllenhaal) and their pimps (including Gbenga Akinnagbe and Black Thought from The Roots), and a cop who's tired of corruption in the force (Lawrence Gilliard Jr).
An eye-opening look at the sexual revolution and the dawn of New York's porn industry, The Deuce is similar in tone and style to Simon's other HBO masterpiece, The Wire.

High Country
There's just something about good Aussie content isn't there? Well High Country is certainly that. Mare of Easttown
Kate Winslet (Titanic, Steve Jobs) stars as Marianne 'Mare' Sheehan – a police detective charged with investigating the recent murder of a teenage mother in a Philadelphian suburb. A local hero, Sheehan's reputation has taken a hit recently due to her inability to solve the case of a missing girl for over a year. The stress of the case combined with a recent divorce, deceased son and a custody battle wreak havoc on her mental health.
Ably supported by a strong cast including Jean Smart (Watchmen, Frasier), Evan Peters (X-Men, American Horror Story) and Guy Pearce (Iron Man 3, Memento), Winslet gives a career-defining performance in a series that ramps up the tension from episode to episode. We didn't love its ending, but the ride that Mare of Easttown takes you on is well worth the time.

The Flight Attendant
Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) gives a career-best performance in The Flight Attendant playing Cassie Bowden, an alcoholic flight attendant who spends the night in Bangkok with a charming passenger named Alex (Michiel Huisman). After getting blackout drunk, Cassie wakes up the next morning to find Alex's throat slashed.
Did she kill him? Did someone else come into the room and kill Alex while she was sleeping? She honestly can't remember. After fleeing the country and heading back to the States, Cassie takes it upon herself to solve this mystery. If only she could stay sober and avoid putting her friends in danger...

The Undoing
HBO's The Undoing was a huge when it released back in 2020, and if you missed it now is your chance to see what all the fuss was about. Seeing Australia's own Nicole Kidman star opposite Hugh Grant in this story about a therapist named Grace whose perfect life begins to show cracks on the eve of her first book's release.
Startling revelations come to light about her husband (Grant), forcing Grace to do what she can to protect herself and her son. A dark psychological thriller from David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies, The Practice), The Undoing promises to keep you on the edge of your seat. It's perfect if you need an itch scratched after finishing Netflix's The Perfect Couple.

Sharp Objects
Based on the novel by Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl), Sharp Objects follows Camille (Amy Adams) – a journalist who returns to her hometown after two young girls are murdered. The show explores Camille's toxic relationship with her withering mother (Patricia Clarkson) and half-sister Amma (Eliza Scanlen).
A show that subverts expectations, Sharp Objects isn't interested in the mystery that kicks off its story, and instead focuses on the fragility of its character dynamics and the sense of decay in its fictional Missouri town. Still, this miniseries sticks the landing with one of the most shocking reveals ever, cementing it as a must-see.

True Detective
The first season of True Detective starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, is an unbelievably good piece of television. While its eight episodes alone are well worth the Binge subscription, its three other seasons are worth your time, too.
While the second season was hugely disappointing, that was off the back of season one. On it's own, it's quite the gripping gritty crime drama, starring Colin Farrell (In Bruges, The Gentleman) , Rachel McAdams (About Time, The Notebook) and Vince Vaughn (Wedding Crashers, Swingers) in one of his first non-comedic roles. Season three is widely regarded as the second-best season starring two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Leave the World Behind) and Stephen Dorff (Old Henry, Felon) as a pair of detectives on the trail of a child killer. Then there's True Detective: Night Country that stars Jodie Foster (Silence of the Lambs) as an Alaskan detective.

Best crime TV on Binge
The Sopranos
The Sopranos is a highly regarded American-Italian mob show based in early 2000s New Jersey. Tapping into the psychologically introspective culture of New York and the classic family/crime dynamic found in many mobster films, The Sopranos explores the difficulties of juggling both a functioning crime syndicate and a nurturing family environment, through the prism of a psychologist's chair.

Regarded by many (this writer included) to be the greatest television series of all time, perhaps only in competition with the show above, The Wire paints a portrait of an American city (Baltimore) in a way that no other show has before or after.
Framed against the backdrop of America's 'War on Drugs', The Wire shows both sides of the struggle, focusing on the environment that produces street dealers and turns innocent children into hardened killers, while also examining the issue from law enforcement's perspective, showing how bureaucracy prevents real change. Raw and uncompromising, The Wire is unlike any other crime series you've seen.

Mr Inbetween
Mr Inbetween might just be the best Australian show of the last decade, if not ever. A little bit Dexter, a splash of Seinfeld and a heaping serve of Aussie crime classic Two Hands, the series follows hitman-with-a-heart-of-gold Ray Shoesmith, played by relative unknown Scott Ryan, the show's lead writer.
A follow-up to his 2005 indie crime film The Magician, each tightly-packed 25-minute episode straddling genres and seamlessly slides between humour, action, drama, thrills and gut-wrenching chills. We follow the likable Ray on the job (which ranges hits, clean-ups and straight-up revenge) and in his personal life (caring for his disabled brother Bruce, hanging out with best-friend Gary, sharing custody of his daughter and trying to have a love life), all punctuated with Ray's wry observations and his beautifully dry Aussie sense of humour.

Best action TV on Binge
Banshee
An action-packed series that dials its violence and sex up to ludicrous levels, Banshee sees an ex-con played by Homelander (Antony Starr) from The Boys before he was a global star, released from jail after 10 years only to immediately assume the identity of a dead sheriff in an Amish country town called Banshee.
Before long, he's up to his eyeballs in trouble – involving a local gangster (Ulrich Thomsen), and an ex-lover (Ivana Miličević) who has put her criminal past behind her – all while trying to keep his real identity under wraps. Addictively trashy, Banshee is almost too entertaining!

Warrior
Based on an original treatment written by the legendary Bruce Lee, and from the creator of Banshee (see below), comes Warrior – a violent martial arts epic which takes place during the bloody Tong Wars of late 1870s San Francisco.
Martial arts prodigy Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji) immigrates to the city in search of his missing sister, only to be recruited into the Hop Wei tong. He soon discovers that his sister Mai Ling (Dianne Doan), has become the head of a rival tong. Meanwhile, racial tensions in the city are close to boiling point, as its Irish immigrants revolt against the Chinese for supposedly taking all their jobs. Warrior is packed to the brim with impeccably choreographed fights and an abundance of sex scenes making for the perfect trashy good time.

Peacemaker
Writer-director James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) made his television debut with Peacemaker, a spin-off of his own DCU film The Suicide Squad which sees John Cena return as Peacemaker, a self-proclaimed superhero who loves nothing more than peace, no matter how many men, women and children he has to kill in order to attain it.
Those who stuck around for The Suicide Squad's mid-credits sequence will know that Peacemaker's story is far from over – the show kicks off with Peacemaker teaming up with a covert A.R.G.U.S. team in order stop an apparent alien invasion. Hilarious, brutal and one of the best pieces of content from DC, it's a must watch for superhero, action, John Cena and comedy fans alike.

Colin From Accounts
One of the few Binge originals, Colin From Accounts is a truly hilarious Australian romantic dramedy. Following Ashley and Gordon who are brought together by an accident involving a little dog they later name Colin From Accounts, it's a show based in Sydney about two flawed, funny humans and how they navigate – or try to navigate – their lives.
If you're an Aussie comedy fan – or love a RomCom – there's few better options on any streaming service right now. Even better, season two only recently released, so you have two seasons of hilarious TV to catch up on.

Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty
If you love a dramedy (drama/comedy) you'll absolutely love Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. From director Adam McKay (Anchorman, Don't Look Up), the show tells the story of enthusiastic playboy Dr. Jerry Buss (John C. Reilly), and how his risk-it-all decision to purchase the L.A. Lakers and recruit up-and-comer Earvin 'Magic Johnson (Quincy Isaiah) helped turn the struggling NBA franchise into the powerhouse it is today.
Set in the late '70s/early '80s, the show is cleverly filmed via a number of vintage methods which make it seem incredibly authentic to the period. McKay also employs a number of stylish techniques, such as characters regularly addressing the audience directly, to keep the pace going like a great game of b-ball. Whether you're as sports biography fan or not, this show offers something for everyone.

No, that's not the wrong image. There's a prequel TV series to the movie Ted starring Mark Wahlberg. Yes, it's ridculous... it's also really funny.

Follow Ted and the 16-year-old John Bennett as they make their way through the trials and tribulations of home and high school as a teenager.

Sex and the City is just about a group of gals living life in the Big Apple. Rejoice! The girls are also back on Binge with And Just Like That, returning to explore the next chapter of their lives 11 years after the events of the original show. While Samantha doesn't make her return, this series sees each character try to come to terms with big changes in their lives, with their friends are there to help each other through them.

The White Lotus

Barry
One of the best new comedies in recent years, Barry follows a hitman (played by Bill Hader) caught in an existential crisis who joins an acting class in order to track his latest target. Of course, Barry falls in love with acting, as it allows him to safely express the darkness within without judgement.
HIs acting class includes classmate Sally (Sarah Goldberg), whom Barry is immediately smitten with, and Gene (Henry Winkler), his eccentric acting teacher. And while things are looking good for Barry, his killer work commitments threaten to derail all of his newfound relationships.

Curb Your Enthusiasm
If uncomfortable comedy is your bag, you're going to love Curb Your Enthusiasm, starring Seinfeld co-creator Larry David as himself. Imagine Seinfeld, only with a much more insufferable protagonist, no laugh track and a tonne of swearing and you get the idea.
After a hiatus of several years, the show returned triumphantly for ninth and tenth seasons and eventually came back for its final 12th season that released in 2024. If you ask us, it's pretty, pretty, pretty good (you'll get that later).

Ballers
More than just a sports version of Entourage, Ballers sees Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson play Spencer Strasmore, a former NFL great who takes on a new career as a finance manager for up and coming football stars.
Quickly finding himself out of pocket, Spencer pins his hopes on Ricket Jerrett (John David Washington), a talented player who keeps getting himself into trouble off the field, and Vernon Littlefield (Donovan W. Carter), a gentle giant whose friends and family keep interfering with his career. As dramatic as it is comedic, Ballers isn't afraid to let some hard truths slip in amongst the fun.

Parks and Recreation
Parks and Recreation (or Parks and Rec, as it's more affectionately known) is an Amy Poehler-led comedy series which made stars out of Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy), Nick Offerman (Devs), Aubrey Plaza (Legion) and Aziz Ansari (Master of None).
The show follows Leslie Knope (Poehler), an ambitious Parks Department worker who consistently tries to make her small town a better place, much to the chagrin of her disinterested boss, Ron Swanson (Offerman). She also finds herself butting up against governmental bureaucracy that stands in the way of change. Fans of shows like The Office and 30 Rock will love Parks and Recreation.

Veep
One of the funniest political shows on television, Veep (a short-hand term for vice president or 'V.P.') follows Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) as she attempts to avert political catastrophes and juggle a personal life at the same time.

Ren Faire is a three-part American television documentary series directed and produced by Lance Oppenheim. Ren Faire follows the power struggle for the Texas Renaissance Festival, when its founder is set to retire. It might not be the most straightforward and factual documentary ever, but Succession fans will love it.

Phoenix Rising
Phoenix Rising is a raw examination of domestic abuse and the complicated road to retribution in contemporary society. This documentary miniseries follows actress and activist Evan Rachel Wood through the long process of altering statute of limitations laws in California in order to give survivors of domestic abuse and rape the opportunity to pursue legal action against their aggressors.
The two-part series also offers a touching insight into the atrocities that Wood had to endure and the complicated process of reclaiming power after years of psychological manipulation. The series dovetails into the story of Wood's very recent outing of Brian Warner (Marilyn Manson) as her abuser and shines a light on the inglorious dark side of the controversial anarchic rock legend.

Whether you're opting for Below Deck: Mediterranean or the regular series, if you need drama from your reality TV then this show is hard to beat. If working on a massive ship in the middle of the ocean wasn't bad enough, the hardest part about being a crew member on a premium cruise ship is keeping up with the constantly changing needs of demanding passengers.

Superman & Lois
Arguably The CW's best superhero series in a long while, Superman & Lois offers an intriguing take on the Man of Steel and his better half. Feeling like a true successor to the network's own Smallville series, Superman & Lois sees Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) move their family out of Metropolis and back to Kansas, immediately giving this larger-than-life duo a different vibe when placed in a small-town rural setting.
In a refreshing twist, the pair must juggle their societal responsibilities while raising their two teenage sons. To make matters more complicated, one of them has inherited some of Clark's incredible power. Now back for its second season, Superman & Lois quickly became The ArrowVerse's premier superhero show, especially after Supergirl ended.

Raised by Wolves
From producer Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner) comes Raised by Wolves, a science-fiction series in which two androids (Amanda Collin and Abubakar Salim) attempt to colonise the mysterious planet Kepler-22b using human embryos. Set in a distant future where Earth has been devastated in a war between atheists and a religious order, the androids' mission involves creating a godless civilisation that is unburdened by religion. However, the sudden arrival of more refugees from Earth throws everything into chaos, leading once again to violence.

Watchmen
Inspired by the classic graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, HBO's Watchmen is a follow-up that imagines what the world might be like today following the events of the original story. Masked vigilantes are still outlawed, however, the rise of a white supremacist order known as the Seventh Kavalry has forced the Tulsa Police Department to conceal their identities with masks themselves.
Meanwhile, a masked detective who goes by the moniker Sister Night (Regina King) investigates the murder of her friend and mentor, Judd Crawford (Don Johnson), only to discover a hidden past filled with darkness. A show which explores racial trauma in a heightened world, Watchmen feels incredibly relevant.

Game of Thrones
Perhaps the biggest show ever made, Game of Thrones is required viewing for fans of fantasy and prestige television. Based on George RR Martin's best selling series of fantasy novels, the show follows a number of powerful families as they wrestle for control over the fictional realm of Westeros. While they're all doing this, the undead threaten to destroy the entire world.
Will they come together to prevent this from happening? It doesn't seem likely... If you haven't gotten around to watching it yet, Binge has all eight seasons available to stream in an instant. And while I'm sure you've heard about its dissapointing ending, it is undoubtedly one of the greatest shows ever made.

House of the Dragon
If you're a fan of Game of Thrones – or at least the first four or five seasons of Game of Thrones – then House of the Dragon is for you. A prequel to the Original series, House of the Dragon is set nearly 200 years before Game of Thrones portraying the events that lead to the decline of House Targaryen – 172 years before the birth of Daenerys. Whether you're yet to start season one of drooling over the prospect of House of the Dragon season 2, now's the time to jump on Binge and get watching.

Westworld
Based on Michael Crichton's classic science fiction movie of the same name, the HBO version of Westworld expands the mythology of the universe, in which rich people visit a Wild West themed resort filled with incredibly lifelike robot NPCs. The show explores the inner workings of the park, as well as a robot revolution that is on the cusp of taking place. A fantastic series that rivals Game of Thrones in terms of budget and scope, Westworld is highly recommended.

Best horror TV on Binge
The Last of Us
The biggest show of 2023 and certainly one of the biggest shows for probably the next decade, the Last of Us is one of HBO's greatest achievements. Based on Naughty Dog's award-winning video game, The Last of Us follows Joel and Ellie as they make their way through the apocalypse, fighting disease, infected and, of course, other survivors. Even if apocalyptic things aren't usually your style, if you love good TV, this is it.
With multiple seasons on the way over the next decade and season two rumoured to be coming in 2025, now is the perfect time to catch up. Just a warning – keep a box of tissues nearby.

Lovecraft Country
From producer Jordan Peele (Get Out) and writer/showrunner Misha Green (Underground) comes Lovecraft Country, a racially-charged horror series loosely inspired by the works of noted author H.P. Lovecraft.
Set in 1950s Jim Crow-era America, Lovecraft Country follows Atticus (Jonathan Majors), a black man who finds himself and his family locked in a battle with Ancient Dawn, a secret order which dabbles in the world of magic and monsters. Boasting powerful social commentary alongside its fantastical horror, Lovecraft Country is one of HBO's best genre shows to date.

The Walking Dead
Based on the acclaimed comic book series by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore, The Walking Dead is an American horror drama set in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse.
