  • Pexar's Starlight is a digital photo frame with a wall light
  • The Full HD 15.6-inch touch display is color-calibrated, with an anti-glare finish
  • There's 64GB internal storage, plus photos can be uploaded remotely

Better known for external drives and memory cards, Lexar was a new name in digital photo frames when it launched its sub-brand Pexar and delivered the stunning 11-inch Digital Picture Frame in 2024 (it now resides in our best photo frames guide). Now, Pexar has expanded its range with an innovative new addition.

Not only is the Pexar Starlight bigger, with a Full HD 15.6-inch touch display, but it delivers an industry-first: wall lighting. You can check out the images below to get an idea of how the frame looks in daylight with its anti-glare finish, plus in a dingier environment, where it really comes to life with its gallery-style lighting.

Looks matter with digital photo frames – both the quality of display and finish of the frame. The Starlight looks top-tier, with wood grain finish, canvas-like matting and unique wall lighting.

There are multiple ways to upload images to the frame (JPEG / PNG / WEBP or HEIC stills, MP4 or 3GP videos): through memory card, flash drive or wirelessly, using the companion app, which works remotely from anywhere.

There's also 64GB built-in storage, which is enough space for 80,000 1920x1080p images. The frame can be wall-mounted or rested on a sideboard using the slick metal stand, in either vertical or horizontal format.

Still worth it?

In one sense, digital photo frames can feel old hat given how most people look at photos on their phones these days. However, I've gifted one to my parents and I know how much they appreciate it, especially the occasional new photos that pop up on the frame of their grandkids, uploaded remotely by me, several hours' drive away.

A high-quality digital frame can really let your photos shine, especially one like the 15-inch Starlight. That said, personally I think that display size is a slightly awkward middle-ground: a little too small for a wall and a little too big for a coffee table. Still, I expect the Pexar Starlight to be a hit, especially in the lead up to the Christmas holidays.

Pexar Starlight is due to go on sale on November 6, 2025, and there's currently an early bird discount of $100 for those who register interest by that link. I don't have US / UK or Australia pricing at the time of writing, but expect it to be more expensive than the 11-inch frame which retails for $180 / £150. I'll update this article when I get the details.

Check back in for my full review of the frame which is in the pipeline, too – if the Pexar 11-inch frame is anything to go by, I'm expecting good things.
