Our very own 2026 TechRadar Australian PC Awards named the Surface Laptop winner of Best Premium Laptop. That’s not an award we hand out lightly, and we stand by what we said:

“The Surface Laptop is the best premium Windows notebook, offering a solid design, great display, fast performance and excellent battery life.”

So if you're trying to grab a last-minute EOFY deal, we think the Surface Laptop is one of the better choices available, as it's a top-notch laptop for work, study or just everyday use.

Right now loads of Microsoft Surface Laptop models are on sale for EOFY, with big discounts compared to normal pricing.

Pricing starts very competitively too for the 13-inch model, which, thanks to price hikes from Apple, now competes directly with the most affordable MacBook Neo and undercuts the MacBook Air.

The Surface Laptop is also easy to find, as it’s widely stocked by big retailers like JB Hi-Fi and Officeworks. There’s store pickup available if you want it now, or in many areas, you can get it delivered straight to your home or work.

was AU$1,699, now AU$1,299 from JB Hi-Fi
now AU$1,298 from Officeworks

This is the most affordable machine in the Surface Laptop lineup, and the EOFY discount saving here makes it easy to justify over a more basic Windows ultraportable. Officeworks is an entire dollar cheaper, if you really want to save the most possible.

AU$2,197 from Officeworks

This is the middle-ground Surface Laptop if you want a bit more screen space than the 13-inch model, but don’t want to move up to the full 15-inch size. You also get a more powerful CPU and a 512GB SSD.

The 15-inch model is a good choice for anyone who likes a larger laptop. This configuration also steps up to the Snapdragon X Elite with 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD.

Officeworks is currently sold out of the 15-inch model, but we included the link in case it's restocked.

The 2026 TechRadar Australian PC Awards are judged based on expert hands-on testing across TechRadar, APC, PC Gamer, Tom’s Guide and Windows Central.

But if you want the full scoop, take a read of our Microsoft Surface Laptop 13-inch review, which called it “a very solid everyday laptop”. And we think that’s a very useful way to think about the Surface Laptop range.

It’s designed to handle everything from work use to study or everyday productivity, and our review praises practical details that help, like the keyboard and trackpad being “a dream to type on”.

The taller-than-normal 3:2 display also gives you more vertical room for documents, and web pages, which is something we really appreciate when using it day in and day out.

Battery life is another area where Surface Laptop stands out. In our testing, the 13-inch model happily ran for 17 hours and 14 minutes on a single charge, which our reviewer said “easily translates into two full workdays or more without recharging”.

In other words — it's a great EOFY laptop upgrade with a range of models that will suit a big range of needs.

Not all models are discounted, so it’s worth checking the full range from JB Hi-Fi and Officeworks for the current mix of prices, colours and specifications.
