The Apple AirPods Max 2, at £499.99, are worth every single penny. But what if that's way out of your budget? Well then, you should shoot for the discounted Apple AirPods Max (1st Gen) at Amazon for £399.99 (was £499.99).

The four-star-rated headphones are still some of the best noise-cancelling headphones around, despite being released over five years ago. We love their ANC, unbelievable audio performance, fantastic user experience, and brilliant extra features for iOS.

If it's a pair of over-ear AirPods that you're looking for, then your only choice is the AirPods Max. They produce fantastic sound and boast excellent noise cancellation, but at £499.99, they're out of a lot of our budgets. It's a whole different ball game with this generous £100 discount, though.

In our Apple AirPods Max review, we rated the headphones four out of five stars and called them the “perfect headphones for Apple devotees.” They've got a lot going for them. We could mention the detailed, expansive audio, the USB-C lossless audio, or the gorgeous design, but it's actually the noise cancellation that makes the AirPods Max excel most.

Our reviewer said that "during a commute, most of the rumble from the train was blocked out, and with our music playing, we couldn't hear it at all." That's high praise indeed and exactly what you'd expect from a £499.99 (RRP) pair of headphones.

Aside from a wide and well-balanced soundstage with immersive spatial audio to make you feel like you’re at a concert, the AirPods Max boast a wide range of features. These include comfy memory foam earcups and a lightweight mesh headband that moulds to your head. They also last up to 20 hours on a single charge.

If you've got your heart set on Apple but are open in terms of the product, then our best AirPods and AirPods deals pages should be your first step. Or more broadly, our best noise-cancelling headphones guide and noise cancelling headphone deals are worth a look.
