Spotify is rolling out 3 exciting new features for Lyrics, including translations, and I can’t wait to finally understand what my favorite Spanish artists have been singing about

• Spotify is launching three new upgrades for its Lyrics tool
• After experimenting with Lyric Translations late last year, Spotify is rolling it out globally
• Additionally, Lyrics will now have a new home in the Spotify app, and Premium users will also have offline access to Lyrics

Although it’s been five years since Spotify launched Lyrics, there’s still a lot of work to be done – even if it is one of the best music streaming services. Earlier this year, I shared my list of improvements I wanted Spotify to make in 2026, and one of them has already been solved.

As of today, the platform is rolling out not one, but three upgrades to its Lyrics tool, and it’s been a long time coming, even though Apple Music has had one of them for a few months now.

The three new upgrades not only give Spotify's Lyrics a new look, but give them an entirely new purpose – starting with Lyric Translations.

Lyric translations are finally going global

Following a successful trial in over 25 markets, Lyric Translations is going global, so now you’ll be able to understand what your favorite artists are singing about, no matter what your first language is.

This will come in handy for English speakers like me who love music from artists like Rosalia and Bad Bunny but still rely on third-party apps for translations.

Following the launch of Apple Music’s own lyric translation tool in September 2025, Spotify started experimenting with a similar feature of its own shortly after the platform rolled out Lyric Translations upon the release of Rosalia’s album Lux. At the time, it was only available for select markets, but that’s no longer the case.

Premium users can access offline Lyrics

Wish you could still view Lyrics while listening to music offline? Well, now you can.

Along with lyric translations, Spotify is allowing Premium subscribers to access song Lyrics even when they’re listening without WiFi or service. Now, you’ll never miss a line, “whether you’re underground on your commute or flying at 30,000 feet”, as Spotify puts it.

Lyrics find a new home in the playback page

Not only are Lyrics getting those two new upgrades, but Spotify is also making them easier to find in the app. Since Spotify launched Lyrics, they’ve stayed in the same place in a tab beneath the playback bar, but now they’re being moved front and center.

When you open the playback page in the Spotify app, the new Lyrics tab will be displayed directly in the Now Playing View, where, just like before, you’ll see them scroll as you listen to music.

Though Spotify should've made these updates years ago, it's better late than never right? The previous Lyrics experience wasn't the best, so hopefully this next update will give it the oomph it's always needed. Now Spotify just needs to fix its synchronization issues.
