The Mju Tough 8000 is one of the toughest cameras around, with a decent dive depth, 2m shockproofing and 'crushproofing' up to 100kg too.

The metal finish looks good, but is slightly slippery if the camera is wet, and the embossed markings on the buttons aren't always easy to see. The controls are pretty tightly packed and could be tricky to work with heavy gloves on.

The Mju 8000 worked perfectly underwater, as well as when frozen, though the battery indicator dropped to near empty. It's also useful as a general-purpose camera, thanks to its wide-angle zoom lens and compact dimensions.

The definition isn't the best, but the colours are decent, as are exposures – the Mju 8000's pictures are probably the best you'll get in this sort of camera, at this price.
