UPDATE:We've now given the Humax HD-FOX T2 a full test and you can read the results here:

Humax has unveiled its Freeview HD set-top box, likely to be one of the first to be launched when it arrives early in 2010.

The Humax HD-Fox T2 utilises the DVB-T2 tuner needed to get the recently launched Freeview HD, and brings the nicely designed user interface that you would expect from the set top box specialists.

The HD-Fox T2 will also eventually get a USB recording function, allowing you to record programs, although they could be encrypted to only play back on that particular box.

With a home network solution also set to arrive on the box at an unspecified time after the launch, it's certainly a box that will get better as functions are switched on.

With a likely price of around £170, the HD-Fox T2 brings auto-retune and also the ability to upscale pictures to 1080p50 (full HD at 50 frames per second, bringing a smoother pictrue).

Freeview HD DVR

As you may expect, given the popularity of the digital video recorders from Humax for Freeview and Freesat, a DVR Freeview HD box will be following its simpler brother in the second quarter of 2010, with Humax's Graham North stating that his should be out in time for the World Cup.

The DVB-T2 HD box will have the same features as its predecessor, although the USB recording will be allowed only for archiving material and not direct-to-device recording.
