Overall, we're very impressed indeed with LG Optimus 2X. It's light, speedy and we can't wait to try out some more hardcore action on it, such as loading it with 3D games and video and other applications all at once, as we're now standing at the precipice of full-on dual core use in smartphones.

The Optimus 2X is a badly-needed device for LG, which has been devoid of top-end smartphone action, instead focusing on the budget end of the market with only marginal success and acclaim.

We're hearing word the Optimus 2X might debut at around the same UK price point as the HTC Desire, Samsung Galaxy S and Google Nexus S, which would be a very interesting battle once it heated up properly.

The UK release date is set for the end of Q1 at the moment, with LG keen to stress that the Q1 launch will see the Korean firm bringing the world's first dual-core mobile phone - fingers crossed it heralds a real shift in mobile phone power and battery management.
