What is Surfshark One Plus?
Surfshark One Plus is the provider's top tier product, calling it an "all-around online security suite".
Its baseline is the standard set of VPN (virtual private network) tools that are ordinarily included in the Surfshark Starter plan.
That means fully encrypted internet traffic when Surfshark is switched on, access to 4,500+ servers spanning 100 countries and your choice of OpenVPN, IKEv2 and WireGuard protocols.
But Surfshark One and One Plus go even further, with a suite of features that are designed to keep your tech free of viruses, notify you if your privacy is breached online and give you a cleaner, less intrusive web surfing experience.
The unique selling point of One Plus, however, is the access it gives you to Surfshark's own Incogni data removal service. More on which below.
What features and benefits does Surfshark One Plus include?
As you'd expect from a package positioning itself as an all-in-one solution, Surfshark One Plus has an impressively long list of benefits and features. We've summarized what it includes below...
Included with Surfshark Starter
Unlimited devices – Regardless of whether you sign up for Starter, One or One Plus, Surfshark lets you use its VPN on as many devices simultaneously as you wish. That means instead of fiddling around trying to get your router connected, you and your family can instead use its dedicated clients and apps on an unlimited number of laptops, smartphones, tablets, streaming devices and Smart TVs.
Advanced privacy tools – In addition to bog standard VPN tools like split tunnelling (that it calls Bypasser) and a kill switch, all Surfshark plans include the likes of Dynamic MultiHop and Rotating IP among its settings menus. The former runs all of your internet traffic through two secure servers, giving an extra layer of encryption, while the latter changes your IP address at regular intervals to help annoyances like CAPTCHA tests, location-based pricing and DDoS attacks.
Clean Web – Surfshark seeks to give you a more enjoyable web surfing experience by making ad, tracker and malware blocking a staple of its plans. If you use its browser extension for Chrome, Firefox or Edge, it also includes cookie pop-up blocking, WebRTC protection and data breach alerts.
Alternative ID – Unlike most of the tools above, Alternative ID is one that's unique to Surfshark's three plans. It provides you with a spoof name, email address, birthdate and address for when you're asked for them to create a new online account. These requests seem to be getting more and more intrusive, meaning you'll be able to avoid giving your real personal details to websites that you don't think really require them.
Included with Surfshark One
Surfshark Antivirus – Make the step up from Starter to Surfshark One and you'll reap the benefit of the cybersecurity's provider's fuller suite of online protection tools. The independent antivirus testing company AV-test certified Surfshark's antivirus as being outstanding in six out of nine measures and satisfactory in the rest.
Surfshark Alert – It feels like a week fails to go by these days without a report of data being leaked on to the internet by a major company. Surfshark Alert lets you know if your personal data, ID, or credit card details are found among reports of those leaked online so that you can take measures to protect yourself.
Surfshark Search – Building on Surfshark's 'clean web' ethos, Search is the provider's own search engine where your results are free from ads, tracking and data storing. It also lets you pick and choose what country's search results you want to see, which is a real boon if you're overseas and want a web surfing experience like the one back home.
Included exclusively with Surfshark One Plus
As teased above, the feature that sets Surfshark One Plus ahead of the provider's other plans (as well as the offerings of other VPN companies) is the inclusion of the Incogni data removal service.
Data removal services have come increasingly to prominence as our data has become more valuable for tech, marketing and advertising companies.
If the idea of having your personal information sold to the highest bidder makes you queasy, or you're sick and tired of having your inbox bombarded by marketing emails from companies you're certain you didn't give your address to, then a service like Incogni is your key to regain control.
Incogni is able on your behalf to contact a list of more than 420 data brokers that have gained access to your details and make money by selling it on to the kinds of third parties mentioned above.
Thanks to the underpinning of various local privacy laws, Incogni can demand that your data is removed from those brokers' databases; demands to which they are legally obliged to comply.
Incogni will continue to monitor the databases for your information all the while that you're subscribed. So if you inadvertently turn up on one of them, it will request again that you're removed.
How good is Surfshark One Plus?
When it comes to its prowess as a virtual private network provider, we've already said a few times in this article that Surfshark is among the overall best VPNs you can get. In fact, it currently sits at number two in our rankings.
As per our Surfshark review, it "packs a ton of value into minuscule prices, offering a comprehensive set of privacy features and reliable unblocking power".
"Thanks to its consistently snappy performance, it’s at the top of our speed rankings, but it continues to challenge for the top spot across other categories."
In terms of its all-in-one cybersecurity bundle, we've also fully reviewed Surfshark One.
Scoring a very encouraging four stars out of five, we picked out its long list of features, reasonable pricing and 7-day free trial as particularly worthy praise.
And even though it misses out on a few options that other more traditional internet security suites offer, our expert reviewers still lauded its "excellent security, privacy, and some great extras at a fraction of the cost of many other products, even the standalone ones".
"Its VPN is safe and unlocks whatever you need, the antivirus has tons of features, while breach monitoring and private search round up the robust offering, albeit lacking some elements its competition might have."
How much does Surfshark One Plus cost?
Subscribing to Surfshark's entry-level Starter plan usually costs between $2 and $2.50 (if you sign up to a two-year plan), making it one of the most reasonably costing reputable VPNs around.
Surfshark One doesn't cost a lot more – around $0.30 per month.
There's a bit of a leap if you like the idea of having the benefit of the Incogni data removal service, however. At the time of writing, monthly prices start at $4.19 for 27 months of cover. That's paid in one go at the start, so $113.
If that's a longer commitment than you want to make, you can choose instead to pay $6.29 a month for the one-year plan (plus three months) or $20.85 on a rolling monthly basis that can be cancelled at any time.
