tl;dr
- Samsung has released its new Galaxy Tab tablets, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and the Galaxy Tab S12+. Prices start at $1,399 and $1,199, respectively, with availability in select markets.
- The Galaxy Tab S12 sports major performance improvements over previous models, including CPU, GPU, and NPU (AI) uplifts. You can also look forward to 20+ hours of battery life, beautiful 1,600-nit AMOLED 2X touchscreens, and an extremely thin and lightweight design with IP68 dust and water resistance.
- Both tablets also feature Samsung’s custom Galaxy AI helper, a ton of available apps and programs, several preloaded pieces of software with $600 of exclusive benefits, and an S Pen stylus with every purchase.
Thin and light with plenty of might
There’s plenty to love about Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab S12 tablets, but what makes them such excellent devices for productivity is their hardware and performance. Both tablets are kitted out with a top-notch 3nm processor that delivers significant performance improvements over previous models, with increases of 19% in CPU, 17% in GPU, and 61% in NPU (the processing unit used for powering AI).
That means whether you’re writing or managing documents, creating artwork, performing photo edits and other graphical work, or completing any other kind of task, you won’t need to worry about slowdowns and other annoying performance setbacks — even while you’re multitasking and have several programs running at once.
High-end capabilities like that can sometimes cause battery life issues, but there’s no need to be concerned about that with the Galaxy Tab S12. The S12 Ultra is equipped with a large 11,600 mAh battery that gets up to 23 hours on a full charge, while the S12+’s slightly smaller one achieves 21-hour longevity.
Elite AI, features, and accessories
Beyond internal hardware and design, another big way the Galaxy Tab S12 will level up your productivity is with its software features and its available accessories. The Multi Window functionality, for example, is hugely beneficial since it allows you to split your screen into three sections to make multitasking with different apps much easier. You also have the ability to link to other Samsung Galaxy devices and transfer files between them for convenience.
You'll also have access to Galaxy AI — the tablet’s onboard AI assistant that can be called upon to help you with various work tasks. You can use it to summarize long videos or lengthy pieces of writing into clean and condensed notes, translate languages, transcribe audio or videos into text, suggest style and grammar edits for your writing, and more. And thanks to the strength of the tablet’s NPU, none of this will compromise speed or responsiveness.
Complementing Galaxy AI is Google AI Pro, which you get a six-month trial of with your purchase. With it, you can make use of Gemini to help search for answers you need, as well as Gemini Notebook for dedicated help with studying and quizzing yourself on things you’re in the process of learning.
As for accessories, both the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and the S12+ come with Samsung’s S Pen stylus in the box, giving you a tool useful for artwork, handwriting, and signing documents that you can make use of immediately for no extra charge. Want to use the tablet like a laptop? You can do so with the separately available Pro Keyboard or Book Cover Keyboard Slim; notably, these have a dedicated Galaxy AI key to quickly call on your AI helper when you need to.
Tons of Android apps and programs
Lastly, it’s important to note that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12 tablets fully support all of the best and most popular apps available on Android devices, as they come with the manufacturer’s own Galaxy Store as well as the wider Google Play Store. Between these two platforms, you’ll have no trouble finding and installing any software you want or need, whether for work or for play.
As an added benefit, both S12 devices have several popular productivity programs preloaded, including Notability, Clip Studio Paint, Goodnotes, LumaFusion, Notion, and even Adobe Photoshop (with a special four-month trial of the software). Overall, there’s $600 of exclusive benefits with the S12 — a very attractive bonus.
Samsung’s latest tablets bring a serious productivity boost
With a strong balance of computing power and portability, tablets make for fantastic productivity-boosting companion devices. Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab S12 lineup represents some of the most advanced tablets on the market — and between their excellent specs, 20+ hour battery life, compact and mobile designs, powerful AI features, and top-tier software compatibility, they’ll be there to help you get work done whenever you need them, and for however long.
