On your marks... Get set... Bake! Yep, it's time to don the aprons and head back in the infamous tent for The Great British Bake Off 2025 as another cohort of Britain's best amateur bakers attempt to prove themselves for judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.
After some previous lineup changes, it's as you were in 2025 on the presenter front as comedian Noel Fielding and bubbly Brummie Alison Hammond will be helping guide the bakers through their tasks with a mixture of so-bad-they're-good jokes, matey bonhomie and more baking puns than you can shake a rolling pin at.
Yes, everyone loses their mind over receiving a handshake from a heavily tanned 59-year-old Scouser with blue eyes, or hearing "ooh, lots of booze" from an octogenarian with a penchant for natty spectacles, but at its heart this show is about the bakers.
This year there's gymnastic, roller-skating Drag King (Jessika), a trainee doctor (Jasmine) and two hairdressers (Nadia and Lesley) desperate not to be cut. Sorry.
Last week was Pastry Week – if you haven't got round to watching it yet, follow the link above to the Channel 4 website to catch up. So, who were flaky, and not in a good way? First up was a savory pastry plait, which meant everyone's favorite Bake Off word was front and center – lamination. Effectively, everyone made a variation on a sausage roll – cue lots of sausage innuendo – before a gala pie Technical that required use of a mincing machine. The Great British Bake Off is known as The Great British Baking Show in the US, and just like in previous years Netflix is the place to go to keep up-to-date with the OG series while it airs in the UK.
The 2025 edition will be called 'Collection 13' Stateside and the streaming service will serve up new episodes every Friday – three days after the lucky folk in the UK – up to the final.

Week 1 – Cake
Week 1, available to stream in the U.K. and U.S. now, was Cake Week. Among the highlights to enjoy are a Swiss roll signature that looked as if it had "been dropped from a tree" – Paul Hollywood's words, not ours – a fondant fancy technical that elicited "IS THAT CHERRY IN THERE?!" and heart-warming showstopper certain to bring a tear to the eye. Right after you've seen a cake that collapses inwards like a black hole of sponge, that is.

Week 2 – Biscuit
Week 2, available to stream in the U.K. and U.S. now, was Biscuit Week.
The Signature challenge was slice and bake biscuits, kind of like tear and share for bread week. Nadia got pelters from Paul, who famously doesn't like matcha, for not putting enough match in her flavors. Honestly, you're damned if you do and damned if you don' with the sausage-fingered Scouser. Prue declared nearly all the efforts were "underbaked", which is as close to a slam as you'll get in the tent. One of them looked like a turd. The bake, that is, not one of the contestants. That'd be weird.
For the Technical, it was chocolate hobnobs, an English staple with a cup of tea, ruined by Prue's recipe that unfathomably included a layer of caramel. For the second week running, Toby won the middle challenge, but as any Bake Off fule kno, that counts for nothing when it comes to judging.
True to form, because Toby's memory box Showstopper looked the business but didn't taste it – "thanks" he said when told so – he was in line to be going home, but ultimately it was Leighton who left the tent thanks to a rustic picnic scene that had seen better days.
Tom won Star Baker for a "perfect" cardamon homage to his gran's old house, that also earned the first Hollywood handshake of the series.

Week 3 – Bread
Week 3, available to stream in the U.K. and U.S. now, was Bread Week – lots to prove.
The week top yeasty boy Paul Hollywood loves more than any other didn't disappoint. Not least because it was absolutely full of smut – we had "I hope I can pull it off", "it can't go limp" when talking about the herb morning glory, "everyone wants a neat hole", "I have no preference on hole size" and "I do love a glazed ring". Seriously, this has to continue stop.
The Signature was monkey bread, which is like tear-and-share but in a more ball-shaped size. There were lots of cheese fillings, with Iain, Jasmine and Lesley quietly solid but Aaron struggled as his bread failed to rise after two attempts in the proving draw.
The Technical was glazed ring donuts, a weird choice given they're fried and not baked. The key was warm, but not hot milk, which Pui Man failed to heed as her mixture failed to rise – she also left them in the frier too long. Jasmine's were basically perfect.
That left Pui Man needing a second successive miracle in the Showstopper to survive another week. Though her celebratory sweet bread of at least three tiers looked the business and glace cherries and coconut was "surprisingly good" according to Paul, it wasn't enough to save the Essex-based baker from being the third baker to leave the tent. Iain ran her close after disastrous Technicals and Showstoppers – though to our eyes a Halloween latter looked pretty decent.
Jasmine's plaited cardamom sweet bread completed a very consistent and she took star baker. Aaron saved himself with an autumnal sweet bread decorated with flowers for two departed friends. "YES, AARON!" screamed Paul in the tasting. The smile on the lad's face was a joy to behold.

Week 4 – Back to School
Week 4, available to stream in the U.K. and U.S. now, was Back to School Week – who would be top of the class and who gets a detention?
First was a flapjack Signature, meaning the judges clearly went to posher schools than this writer because we never got a flapjack out our bog-standard education facility. Tom tried to reinvent the wheel, as per, by hiding a flapjack (that barely existed) inside an illusion apple that didn’t taste of apples. Jasmine again bossed it and elicited the first “neat as a pin” from Prue for her cherry effort, while Jessika struggle with a poached pear side that made the flapjack too wet. Aaron, improving every week produced a “triumph” (Paul’s word) of an Earl Grey flapjack, no mean feat given EG tastes like floral dishwater.
The Technical was a School Cake – another thing this writer has never seen in their life – which was basically a vanilla sponge topped with icing and self-made sprinkles. The key was beating in the sugar and butter by hand to make it smooth to eat, but arm brutal to make. Nadia couldn’t count and made only 15, instead of the requested 16, Toby was again solid, Iain had a nightmare, while Jasmine’s was so good that fatty Paul went back for seconds.
The Showstopper was to be an homage to the classic British school fête, with coconut shies, hook a duck and other bits of nonsense, that display three different types of bakes. Unfortunately for Nadiiya, the Ukrainian had no idea what a fête was – instead thinking it was a fight – but nevertheless her school bag, zesty curd and crumbly biscuit impressed the judges. Tom, ever eager to please, produced a coconut shy and science fair with dry ice that hit the mark, while there were so many examples of hook a duck that it was impossible to keep track. Jasmine’s, though, proved the best, with her pretzel quoits especially sensational as she took a second successive star baker. Props, too, to Lesley who made a 1970s-inspired steak pie that oozed out a brownie – sensational stuff Unfortunately for drag kings everywhere, Jessika’s dinosaur centerpiece failed to look like anything vaguely Jurassic and they were eliminated, with Iain unexpectedly struggling for a second week but just about surviving.

Week 5 – Chocolate
Week 5, available to stream in the U.K. and U.S. now, was Chocolate Week.
The temperamental (pun very much intended) beast that is chocolate began with a Mousse Cup Signature that had to feature one baked element, as well as a mousse surrounded by a chocolate shell.
There were plenty of tiramisus, but with chocolate shell too thick (Nadia and Toby). Though Jasmine's tasted good, her mixture did look like an intestine, proving you can't have everything. Iain ran out of time to make a Chantilly, but the mousse was set and Prue enjoyed it so much she went back for seconds. Aaron's lady finger sponge and flavors were good, but his mousse was a bit wet, leading to a handshake for Tom for a coffee with a cappuccino top. "Could be for sale in a Paris pastry shop," says Paul.
The Technical was a white chocolate tart, but with no recipe and a gingham shrouded table at the front from which to select five ingredients. Oh, the bakers also had to make their own shortcrust pastry, easier said than done for some. Lesley got the win from a pretty solid bunch, apart from poor Nadia who seemed to have convinced herself she'd reached her limit in the competition.
Unfortunately for the Scouse hairdresser, that continued into the Showstopper, a fondue display with dipping sauce and one baked element. Nadia tempered her chocolate well, but a tiramisu cake was soggy and she was eventually eliminated. Elsewhere, Nataliia made a spectacular Mount Vesuvius, complete with lava dipping sauce, while Iain tried to make a mountain he intends to propose to his girflriend at (only to make it look like a giant phallus), but it was Aaron who got star baker with a grand piano that looked and tasted great.

Week 6 – Pastry
Week 6, available to stream in the U.K. and U.S. now, was Pastry Week.
The Signature was a savory pastry plait – effectively a sausage roll for the vast majority of the bakery – that required that classic of Bake Off parlance: lamination. Toby decided to make life ridiculously difficult for himself by making his own proper puff pastry, requiring four lots of letter folds. "You can't do it," said a weary Paul. The pastry didn't turn out to be the problem, though, with Toby's flavors not hitting the spot. Lesley appealed to Ol' Blue Eyes' vanity by using his recipe, with added gooseberry, that went down a storm and Paul had some of Aaron's Jamaican beef leftovers for lunch, but Nataliia's take on a chicken Kyiv leaked everywhere.
For the Technical, the bakers had to make a gala pie – imagine a scotch egg and a pie had a baby, and this is the result. For some inexplicable reason, Paul wore a black leather jacket that made it look like he's having even more of a mid-life crisis than is already immediately apparent. Aaron struggled, Tom's was wet and Nataliia's the classic soggy bottom. Iain took second with some great pastry and the very consistent Jasmine the top prize.
The Showstopper was a sculpted sweet tart, the description of which inspired Alison, Noel and Prue to do some catwalking, with the latter even attempting a twerk. In a bit of trouble, golden boy Tom saved himself with a Connect 4-style affair, while Aaron came in for a grilling with a gnome-inspired theme that feature too much jasmine rice extract and put him in line for going home.
There were two pecan pies, with Lesley's shortcrust in memory of her bee-loving granddaughter a great effort and Iain's Giant's Causeway origin story containing too much booze even for Prue. Toby's was literally a rollercoaster after he got the time wrong and had to make the ride with half an hour less than he thought.
In the end Jasmine's consistency got her a third Star Baker prize – Lesley was absolutely robbed here – but Nataliia's beautiful swan didn't taste as good as it looked and it was the end of the road for her ahead of Aaron. Just.

The Great British Bake Off 2025 bakers
Aaron, 38, Senior systems architect (London)
Aaron lives in London with his boyfriend Anthony, having moved from Manchester two years ago. He is a passionate baker who fuses French patisserie with Caribbean flair. Always experimenting, he’s currently embracing Asian flavours like miso and yuzu in his mono-portion bakes. After a long day of application planning at work, Aaron channels his creative side into baking, sewing and making his own liqueurs such as amaretto and limoncello. Known as the “King of Hobbies,” when he isn’t baking, he’s cycling around the city, teaching himself French, lifting weights at the gym, or studying for a Master’s in Computer Science and Data Analytics.
Hassan, 30, Analytical research & development scientist, (South Yorkshire)
Chemistry graduate Hassan lives with his mum in South Yorkshire. He works in the pharmaceutical industry, testing new drugs in their development stages. As a scientist, Hassan takes an analytical approach to baking, researching processes thoroughly before getting started on a new recipe. He is always looking to learn about new flavours and gaining new skills. With a love for sweet treats inspired by his Pakistani heritage, he’s especially fond of praline and nut-based flavours that echo traditional Asian sweets. Outside the lab and kitchen, he’s a dedicated gamer, gym-goer, and meets regularly for a quiz with his mates.
Iain, 29, Software engineer (Belfast)
Originally from Coleraine, Iain lives in Belfast with his girlfriend Dervla and their cat, Viktor. A former amateur powerlifter Iain now lifts dough instead of weights. The self-proclaimed “Yeastie Boy” mixes his love of live music with sourdough, immortalising album cover art on the crusts of his loaves. He blends classic flavours with a creative twist, often using fermented fruits and vegetables to enhance the depth and complexity of his flavours. If an ingredient can be pickled, aged, or cultured, he’s eager to give it a try! Iain is also on a mission to rewrite the Bake Off legacy of “Iain from Belfast” once and for all.
Jasmine, 23, Medical student (London)
Born and raised in Edinburgh, Jasmine now lives with her cousins in London while she completes her medical degree. She learnt the basics of bread and cakes through her Mum and aunts, and has fond memories of batch baking for big family get togethers during holidays in the Scottish Highlands. Baking has become her creative outlet, and she likes nothing better than using fresh, seasonal ingredients to create classic flavour combinations. When she’s not in hospital placements, Jasmine’s likely sea swimming, running half marathons or playing hockey for her university team.
Jessika, 32, Service designer, London
With backflips as bold as her bakes, Jessika is a gymnastic, roller-skating Drag King whose creations are as vibrant as her personality. Gifting bakes is her love language, and she’ll spend months gathering information about her friends tastes before surprising them with the perfect birthday entremet. Raised in Cornwall, Jessika has fond memories of eating corner-shop cakes with her sister after dance classes, which solidified her sweet tooth. Her signature bakes fuse daring flavours like salted mango caramel and cardamom, or Jerusalem artichoke caramel with a dark chocolate mousse. When she’s not baking, Jessika’s on skates, cycling, or performing as her drag king persona. An ambitious baker, she’s all about pushing boundaries, in the kitchen and beyond.
Leighton, 59, Software delivery manager (Surrey)
With a mathematical mind, Leighton is guided in both life and baking by the approach that ‘anything can be done with a formula’. Originally from Swansea, proud Welshman Leighton has always done things his own way, ignoring anyone that told him ‘boys don’t bake’! He grew up playing the organ at his local church and now lives in Surrey with his Californian husband Eric and their Irish Terrier, Cilla. Leighton plays tennis four times a week, supports several animal charities, and is usually found belting Les Mis while baking (much to his neighbours’ dismay!). He likes to play with traditional Welsh/British and American flavours, with favourites like Welsh cakes with peanut butter and Victoria Sponge with key lime pie filling.
Lesley, 59, Hairdresser (Kent)
Lesley’s been a hairdresser for 45 years and the clients that come to her salon always expect a lovely slice of cake along with their trim. Despite a love for classic old-school bakes, it’s never the ‘same old’ with her modern and fun designs. Lesley has high hopes for her Granddaughter Mabel, who she expects to be able to do a curly blow-dry and bake a batch of cookies by the time she is 5.
Living with her partner Mark and two dogs, Norman and Marley, Lesley loves birdwatching, gardening and a seaside walk followed by fish and chips. She’s been baking since the age of 10, inspired by Nanny Mable and Auntie Joan, who taught her the basics and sparked a lifelong passion. For her, baking is all about comfort, creativity and making people smile, especially when it’s served with a cuppa and a chat.
Nadia, 41, Hairdresser (Liverpool)
Blending Indian and Italian flavours with Scouse spirit, Nadia is a chatterbox bringing warmth and laughter into to every room whether it’s her home salon, the dance floor, or the kitchen! Inspired by her Italian chef dad, she brings rustic charm and soulful flavours to everything she bakes. Nadia lives in a lively Liverpool home with her partner Daniel and daughters Rosa-Bella and Maria. Sundays are sacred “feast days,” filled with homemade pasta, roasts, and always a pud. A hairdresser, baker, and former personal trainer, Nadia channels her endless energy into novelty cakes, creative twists on classics, and kitchen dance breaks. For her, baking is all about heart, heritage, and keeping joy at the centre of it all.
Nataliia, 32, Office assistant (East Yorkshire)
Born in Ukraine, Nataliia was taught to bake by her grandmother, following traditional recipes that have been handed down through the generations. She loves to use these recipes to this day and also infuses classic British bakes with flavours inspired by her roots such as honey, poppy seeds and spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. Nataliia moved to the UK with her husband Harry four years ago, just before the war broke out. Her family followed shortly after as refugees and they now all live in East Yorkshire with their 3 year old daughter, Francesca. An economics graduate with an artistic streak, Nataliia loves painting, running, and countryside walks with her Ukrainian rescue dog Aria.
Pui Man, 51, Bridal designer (Essex)
From runways and veils to ovens and scales, perfectionist Pui Man brings the attention to detail of designing a wedding dress to each of her bakes. Born in Hong Kong and now living in Essex with her husband and two children, Pui Man rediscovered baking during lockdown and hasn’t looked back. Her bakes are as beautiful as they are bold, and she practices endlessly to make sure her creations are as close to perfection as possible. Always thinking of others, Pui Man volunteers three evenings a week, collecting surplus food from supermarkets and distributing it within her community. When she does find time for herself, you’ll find her knitting with a pint, in the pub with her friend. While the other bakers may dream of a Hollywood handshake, Pui Man’s got her eye on the show’s first ever Hollywood hug.
Toby, 29, Business development executive (Warwickshire)
Toby is a country boy at heart and grew up in the seaside town of Sidmouth with his three siblings. Currently three years in to his “six month” home DIY renovation project, Toby and his girlfriend Syd now live in Warwickshire with their rescue dog Bex. Working for a fitness start-up, he is often out and about at events and meeting potential clients. He has a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and his training partner loves refuelling after a gruelling session on the mats with his strawberry cheesecake. Toby takes a stripped-back, healthy approach to baking, and tends to lean more towards classic recipes and flavours as he believes they are classics for a reason! But it’s bread that is his real passion, baking something different every day.
Tom, 31, Creative entrepeneur (London)
Tom grew up in London and learnt to bake scones and flapjacks alongside his Mum and Danish Granny. As a teen, Tom feared his secret love of baking would out him. Now, a member of two queer sports teams and with a boyfriend of three years, the game may be up. Having stepped back from the advertising agency he set up, he’s recently reconnected with his first love, food, and brings a creative flair to his beautifully presented bakes. Tom grew up in a food obsessed family and when not working you can find him fishing for Sea Bass with his brother, foraging for mushrooms and cooking roasts with his dad.
