If someone mentions graphics cards in conversation, odds are that the first thing that occurs to you is the NVIDIA brand. NVIDIA is famous for its high-powered GPUs and laptops, and for performance leadership in those spheres.

Regarding NVIDIA’s territory in the laptop world, you’ll probably think of fast GeForce RTX graphics cards inside gaming notebooks, but NVIDIA also produces laptops that are designed for serious usage and creative types engaging in the likes of 3D modelling, for example. And these are known as NVIDIA Studio notebooks.

When applied to a laptop, the NVIDIA Studio label means the device in question is up to the hardware standards set by NVIDIA, in terms of having not just an NVIDIA RTX graphics card, but a high-quality screen and other important elements creative users need (we’ll discuss this further in a moment). It’s not just about hardware either, but also software in combination with that – namely the NVIDIA Studio driver which provides much faster performance for a whole range of apps (Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop, for instance).

It’s this synergistic combination of quality hardware and software acceleration that makes NVIDIA Studio laptops a very attractive proposition for creatives, and one made all the more enticing by purchasing from Currys in terms of what the retailer offers in general, and some of the discounts to be had. Such as, for example, this deal from Currys on the Dell Inspiron 16 Plus 7620, which has been reduced from £1,379 to £1,219, giving a saving of £160.

This NVIDIA Studio laptop bristles with an RTX 3060 graphics card and Intel Core i7-12700H processor, with 16GB of cutting-edge DDR5 system RAM and a gorgeous 3K 16-inch screen (which is ‘eyesafe’ to boot). This is a time-limited offer, mind you, and it ends on December 29 (while stock lasts, as ever), so bear in mind you might need to move swiftly if you fancy this Dell portable.

Let’s go ahead and take a closer look at the features and capabilities of NVIDIA Studio laptops, and why these machines are such a compelling proposition, before examining the benefits of buying at Currys, which stocks a fast-growing selection of these devices, giving you plenty of options if you decide to take the plunge.

NVIDIA Studio: The full package for creatives

As we just mentioned, the NVIDIA Studio badge is attached to laptops with suitably advanced hardware, running the Studio graphics driver to bolster that further on the software front.

In terms of hardware, that means the notebook sports a great screen with accurate color representation (perhaps Pantone-validated), a plentiful selection of (cutting-edge) ports, and lots of memory on-board (which creative apps really benefit from), not to mention storage – and of course an NVIDIA RTX graphics card (plus a powerful contemporary CPU). NVIDIA tests these laptops itself and ensures all those needs are met, so you can rest assured that the Studio label means a well-equipped portable for creatives.

NVIDIA also works with the makers of creativity software to ensure the RTX GPU speeds up their apps, with the graphics card able to leverage AI (Tensor) cores and RT (Ray Tracing) cores to bring a huge amount of added zip to some heavyweight applications.

And with NVIDIA Studio drivers being regularly tested and updated by NVIDIA engineers – with performance levels constantly improved, as well as stability and reliability with apps across the board – all this adds up to a couple of things. Namely that 3D rendering, graphic design, video editing or photo work is completed more quickly, and also that the user benefits from more streamlined workflows as various features are honed through the testing process, and arrive in the release version of the Studio driver.

NVIDIA boasts that Studio offers top-tier performance in 125+ creative apps, including the leading apps in the categories we’ve just touched on. Whatever creative software you use, and whether you’re a dabbler and creative hobbyist, or an enthusiast who tackles, say, big 3D modelling projects involving ray tracing, the NVIDIA Studio platform and its blend of powerful, high-quality hardware and software optimization will be a winning formula.

Currys: The place to buy NVIDIA Studio laptops for many good reasons

Currys boasts a robust range of different NVIDIA Studio laptops, currently with some big savings on offer, like this reduction on the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro. This 16-inch laptop has had £100 knocked off its £999 asking price, meaning you’ll pay £899. The IdeaPad packs an NVIDIA RTX 3050 graphics card paired with an AMD Ryzen 5 6600HS CPU, backed by 16GB of system memory, and a 2.5K screen with 100% sRGB coverage. (Note that this offer ends on December 28).

However, there are a number of other compelling reasons to buy from Currys aside from the wide range of choice and eye-catching offers like that Lenovo laptop. Another obvious draw is that Currys is a well-established presence in the retail sphere, offering strong customer service proven through the years.

And when it comes to customers, Currys isn’t just about high-quality aftersales care, but advice before you buy as well. Currys experts are on hand in stores throughout the country and online to share their in-depth knowledge on laptops (and other tech). When online, that includes not just webchats, but recommendations for products that Currys experts love, and buying guides that are concise and easy to read.

Another strong point for Currys is that the retailer offers various payment options, including monthly instalments – and interest-free credit over two years in some cases – for those who want more flexibility, and might not have the full lump sum available to pay upfront.

Furthermore, Currys Price Promise means that the retailer will match any other price if you find the device cheaper at another outlet in the UK, and that includes price matching discount codes. It’s worth noting that even after you’ve bought a laptop (or anything else), if you see that item at a lower price elsewhere, Currys is happy to price match and refund any difference up to seven days after your purchase.

To round all that off, Currys is a great place to shop for laptops due to the discounts which are regularly applied, particularly at this time of year. Indeed, we’ve already highlighted some of the Boxing Day deals which are currently benefiting selected NVIDIA Studio notebooks, and here’s another one for good measure.

Namely a £250 discount on the Dell XPS 15 9520, a 15.6-inch laptop which is a high-end model that normally retails at £1,849, but you’ll now pay £1,599 at Currys. The Dell XPS 15 is a premium laptop in every sense of the word with a super-slick design, great keyboard, eye-catching looks, and crucially plenty of power under the hood in a light and portable notebook – plus it has a stunner of a screen. Note that this offer expires on December 29.

As mentioned, there are lots of other options for NVIDIA Studio laptops besides these discounted machines, and Currys regularly runs price-cuts that are worth keeping an eye out for all year round. And as a final note, if you do pull the trigger on an NVIDIA Studio notebook, don’t forget that it’s not just creativity that these devices are eminently well-suited to – with an RTX graphics card, and tech like NVIDIA DLSS frame rate boosting, these portables can deliver a pleasing gaming experience, too.
