The JBL Charge 5 is my most loyal travel buddy — and now this trusty Bluetooth speaker can be yours for almost £90 off
Lotsa battery, lotsa bass
Having owned the JBL Charge 5 for several years and taken it on a whole load of adventures, I've already found that it offers excellent value. So I was even more chuffed when I saw you can now buy it for even less – currently you can get the JBL Charge 5 from Amazon for £92 (was £179.99)!
Not only is that almost half price, but it's also its lowest price to date, making it a real bargain. That price covers only the Red colorway, but worry not: the Teal version is available at the Charge 5's previous best price of £92.99, and you can grab the Camouflage, Green, or Grey editions for not much more at £94.99.
And if you'd rather skip straight to the newer JBL Charge 6, I've got some good news: you can currently buy that from Amazon for £122.70 (was £169.99). While that's not its lowest price ever, it's pretty darn close – the only time it's been lower is when it hit at the very beginning of January.
Today's best JBL Charge 5 deal
The JBL Charge 5 not only delivers well-rounded bass and confident sound, but also lets you charge your phone. Meanwhile, its IP67 rating means it'll see off both dust and being dunked into up to 1m of water – making it perfect for the beach. Not bad, given it's a huge £87.99 off.
I've owned the Charge 5 for years now, so it holds a special place in my heart. After all, it's seen me through camping trips, hours of motorway tailbacks, and Greek island hopping without skipping a beat. That's why I'm not remotely surprised it won a colossal 4.5 stars in our JBL Charge 5 review.
While I've always found the Charge 5 to be capable of impressive bass and serious volume, it's also remarkably well balanced – there's no tinny trebles or gappy mids here. It's also got a capacious battery that'll happily last me up to 20 hours, and I love that I can use some of that juice to charge my phone if I ever get caught short.
But what about the JBL Charge 6? Well, that's got some serious upgrades over its predecessor. It can play back hi-res audio over USB-C, is capable of connecting with a number of Auracast-compatible speakers to give you a huge array of linked speakers, has a beefed-up 28-hour battery, and has a handy carry strap. And given the above discount, I'm even more tempted to upgrade than ever.
