PSA: this is the best headphone deal you'll see this side of Black Friday — the Sony WH-1000XM6 are at a record-low price

It's about time I upgraded my headphones, and one of the deals that's really tempting me right now is the Sony WH-1000XM6 for $378 (was $459) at Walmart. The retailer is currently running a massive fall sale, and these headphones (in my opinion) are the highlight.

Perhaps that's slightly hyperbolic, considering thousands of products are on sale, but these headphones are some of the best we've ever tested here at TechRadar. They're the latest in a series of seriously good headphones that Sony has been able to subtly tweak and improve upon over the years.

Our main criticism, as you can guess, was that the XM6 cost a serious amount of cash, which is one of the reasons why today's deal at Walmart is worth checking out. It's a record-low price on a model that has stubbornly remained close to full price for a while now.

In short, if you're looking for a top-tier pair of headphones with class-leading noise cancellation, then this is one deal that's absolutely worth considering.

The sensational Sony WH-1000XM6 are down to a record-low price for Walmart's massive fall sale, and I couldn't recommend them highly enough. With beautiful all-round sound, outstanding ANC, and a foldable design, they're the best all-rounders on the market, in my opinion.

One of our favorite pairs of headphones right now

We were very close to giving the Sony WH-1000XM6 a full five stars in our review, but the hefty price tag and increase over the last model slightly reduced our score. Another reason why today's price cut at Walmart is worth considering.

Still, if you want a high-end pair of cans, the Sony WH-1000XM6 are a fantastic choice. Their 12-microphone ANC system delivers remarkably effective isolation, making them particularly well suited to flights, public transport, or busy offices. Sony's headphones are a real favorite in the TechRadar offices, in fact.

Other highlights include a slightly improved design, with a more comfortable headband, improved hinges, and better call quality. Audio is also excellent, with features such as LDAC, DSEE Extreme, extensive EQ controls, and Cinema mode that give you plenty of ways to tailor the experience.

Generally speaking, we found these pricey cans to be an excellent all-rounder for the money, and a worthy entry in Sony's class-leading WH series. If you can put up with the slightly high price tag and middling battery life, then you really can't go wrong here.
