Amazon is currently offering a good deal on the excellent JBL Charge 6 Bluetooth speaker, with a price drop from £169 to just £141.95. That makes an already five-star speaker even more attractive, and if you're looking for a small yet powerful party starter, we'd definitely recommend it.

This is a good and genuine Amazon Prime Day deal, although unfortunately it's a UK-only one at the moment: the Charge 6 is sitting at its standard list price on Amazon US at the time of writing. But there are plenty of other deals on Amazon and we're tracking those too.

We genuinely love this speaker, awarding it the full five stars in our recent review: it sounds great, it's impressively loud and it's built tough. It's a super party speaker.

In our JBL Charge 6 review we said that it "has more than enough sonic talent to justify its asking price – and the fact that it’s so well made, so hardy and so very usefully specified only seals the deal." And that was at full price, so getting it for a bit less cash is all the sweeter.

With 45W of amplification going into a 20mm tweeter and large racetrack driver this is a speaker designed to be played loud, and that's where it really excels thanks to its punchy bass and its clear mids and highs. And it's loud without being loutish: we found that it delivers impressive detail with equally impressive subtlety.

Battery life is a very good 24 hours (28 with the bass turned down a bit) and you can use the Charge 6 as a power bank for other devices too. And because it's IP68 rated for dust and water resistance it's a really good option for great music outdoors.
