The return of Sky One and the other basic channels to Virgin Media's platform will return a whole host of top shows to the cable audience.

Virgin Media and Sky have finally come to an agreement over Sky's basic packages – bringing the likes of Sky One and a wealth of HD content back to cable.

Ofcom has rapped Sky for promotions last year in the build up to the Sky basic channels being removed from Virgin Media.

Sky has announced a deal with BBC over the iPlayer but incredibly all that the broadcasters are offering is hyperlinks through to the original Beeb website.

Exclusive Virgin Media has responded to Ofcom's consultation into Pay TV and Sky's dominance by insisting that it is encouraged that the communications watchdog has recognised Sky's dominance.

So the pricing argument will rumble on

A consultation by Ofcom will decide if Sky has to sell its premium programming wholesale to its rivals to avoid a virtual monopoly in British pay TV.

But broadcaster must make wholesale changes

Sky has announced that its Sky + HD box is now available for just £75 in October, as it launches its raft of new high definition channels.

Exclusive Freesat MD Emma Scott has stated that people can use their old Sky satellite dishes to receive the free-to-air service, as the company steps up the competition with industry giant BSkyB.
