- Compared to its predecessors, the Galaxy Tab S12 sports significantly improved performance, particularly with its NPU and its Galaxy AI helper. You can also look forward to a thin and light design, an excellent touchscreen, and all the best Android software.
- With every purchase, Samsung also includes an S Pen stylus in the box as well as roughly $600 of exclusive software benefits like a four-month trial of Adobe Photoshop and preloaded access to Notability, Clip Studio Paint, and other high-end programs.
Power and longevity for all-day performance
Annoying slowdowns and other performance issues are the enemy of an efficient workflow, making quality hardware an extremely important component of any companion device. Thankfully, you get speed and then some with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12 lineup, as both tablets feature an advanced 3nm processor with huge 19% CPU, 17% GPU, and 61% NPU performance improvements over the chips in older units.
Put simply, that means you can look forward to smooth, snappy performance no matter what tasks you’re working on, with enough headroom to tackle intensive multitasking and even many demanding jobs like CAD work. Also, that massive 61% uplift in NPU output in particular supercharges the built-in Galaxy AI assistant, ensuring it’ll always run in peak form.
That horsepower is paired with over 20 hours of battery life — the S12 Ultra sports an 11,600mAh battery that’s rated for up to 23 hours, and the S12+ comes with a slightly smaller one that can last up to 21. That’s more than enough juice to get you through the workday, so you won’t need to worry about power.
All of this fits into a light and compact frame that’s easy to carry in any bag, as the S12 Ultra comes in at just 5.1mm thick and weighs just 692g, and the S12+ is 5.3mm thick and weighs 555g for the 5G model and 553g for the the Wi-Fi model. Plus, the sharp AMOLED 2X touchscreen has up to 1,600 nits of auto-adjusting brightness; with illumination like that, screen glare won’t be an issue in even the brightest environments. Both tablets have the same display, with the S12 Ultra’s sized at 14.6 inches and the S12+’s at 12.6 inches.
Features, AI, and accessories you can count on
While the specs and design of the Galaxy Tab S12 play a prominent role in making it such an effective companion device, its bespoke software and available accessories make a big impact as well. One such feature is Multi Window, which lets you split the screen into three separate displays for different programs. Multi Window is extremely useful when multitasking, as it allows you to work across apps without having to close and reopen them.
Galaxy AI, Samsung’s AI assistant, is also usable on the Galaxy Tab S12. You can put it to work by having it condense lengthy bodies of text into summarized notes, quickly and accurately transcribe audio, translate foreign languages, make writing suggestions, and more. And thanks to the tablets’ stellar NPU, it will do so more efficiently than ever before.
Galaxy AI also works alongside Google Gemini AI, boasting features like search and the ability to create quizzes complete with images and other multimedia; you’ll need Google AI Pro for these, and notably, the tablets come with a six-month trial of the service.
Also included in the box is Samsung’s S Pen stylus, which you can put to great use if you’re an artist or designer, someone who prefers writing or taking notes by hand, or if you routinely have lots of documents to sign. Want a keyboard? Samsung sells a Pro Keyboard and Book Cover Keyboard Slim separately; using one allows you to use your S12 tablet like a laptop and quickly access Galaxy AI with a dedicated key.
All the best Android software, with exclusive benefits
Last but not least, the Galaxy Tab S12’s supported programs allow you to apply the skills you’re learning, or use the software your workplace requires. Thankfully, there’s an ocean of apps available across the Galaxy Store and Google Play Store, including the best that Android has to offer. If there’s an Android app you need, you can get it on the S12.
On top of that, each tablet also comes preloaded with a four-month trial of Adobe Photoshop for elite photo editing, as well as top productivity apps like Notability, Clip Studio Paint, Goodnotes, LumaFusion, and Notion. Together, all of this amounts to about $600 of software benefits — but with the Galaxy Tab S12, you’re getting them as free add-ons.
Work smarter with the Galaxy Tab S12
It’s no exaggeration to say that the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12 tablets has been one of 2026’s biggest in mobile computing, and it’s easy to see why when you look at what these devices are capable of.
Between top-of-the-line hardware performance, all-day battery life, Galaxy AI, the Multi Window feature, the Galaxy Store and Google Play Store, and terrific bonuses like an included S Pen stylus and hundreds of dollars of software, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and S12+ have cemented themselves as top options for anyone looking to level up their productivity.
