Disney+ free trial: is one available, streaming deals, and more explained
TechRadar tells you if Disney+ is still offering a free trial to new and returning customers

"Can I access Disney+ using a free trial?" – it's a question I suspect you've asked yourself time and again if you've ever considered trying out one of the world's best streaming services before you sign up for an account.
The short answer is: no. Disney+ doesn't currently offer a free trial period to new and returning customers, but there are other ways for you to try out the service without actually forking out any of your hard-earned cash.
To find out more, though, you'll need to read through this guide. I can guarantee there's lots of interesting stuff to check out, too – indeed, you'll learn if a Disney+ free trial will ever be made available again, how you can take advantage of some big streaming deals to access Disney's primary streamer, and more. So, what are you waiting for? Dive in!
Is there still a 7-day Disney Plus free trial?
As I menetioned, there's no way to try out Disney+ for free right now. In fact, it hasn't been offered to people for some time.
Previously, Disney+ free trials allowed users in the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia to use it for seven days before any money left their bank account. However, the last time a free trial period was made available was in June 2020, so it's been almost six years (at the time of this article's latest update) so anyone was able to take advantage of it.
Despite Disney+ rolling out in various world regions since its initial launch in March 2020, Japan, was the last location where a Disney+ free trial was available. Indeed, customers were entitled to try it for a whole month, but that offer came to an end in late 2021.
What's the best way to try Disney+ without a free trial?
The best way to try Disney+ without a free trial is to sign up to it. You can learn more about how much each subscription tier will set you back in your home nation via our Disney+ price guide.
Alternatively, you can also gain access to a family or friend's account via the Disney+ Extra Member feature. This was brought in as a by-product of the Disney+ password sharing crackdown that officially began in June 2024.
There are other ways to get more bang for your buck in the US. If you live here, you can sign up for one the best streaming deals from a variety of Disney-created bundles, including a Disney+, ESPN Plus and Hulu deal that costs just $16.99 a month. There's also a $26.99 a month premium bundle on offer, which includes Hulu without ads.
This, of course, gives you access to even more content, including more content catered to adults on Hulu, while ESPN+ has got sports fans covered on a 24/7 basis.
Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu basic bundle: was $31.97 per month now $16.99 at Disney
This bundle offers more choice depending on what you do and don't want out of your streaming subscription. Starting from $9.99 a month for just Disney+ with ads, you can get the Disney Plus Bundle Trio from $16.99 a month, which includes ESPN+ and Hulu with ads. Separately, these subscriptions would cost $31.97 a month. There are also options to pay more for either Duo or Trio plan and forgo commercials, too. This bundle discount also applies to the premium plans, offering a 42% saving.
There's also a recently introduced streaming bundle, aka the Disney+, Hulu, and Max mega bundle that arrived stateside in July 2024.
It offers a 38% saving of buying each of the services separately and, given it's the same price as the trio offer above, you get the choice of adding either ESPN+ or Max with this discount.
Hulu, Disney+ and Max bundle: was $29.99 for three-months now $16.99 at Hulu
This offer gets you the all-new mega bundle, which includes Hulu, Disney+ and Max subscriptions, for three-months. That's a 43% saving compared to signing up to each one individually. One thing worth noting, though, is that this offer only applies to each service's ad-supported plan, so don't expect to find premium features as part of this bundle.
How else can I get a Disney+ free trial?
The good news for Verizon customers in the US is subscribers who sign up for specific Unlimited plans can get a six-month free subscription to Disney+.
Meanwhile, UK dwellers who sign up to one of O2's latest plans can enjoy six months of Disney+ as a part of their contract. If you're on an existing plan from O2 and aren't ready to upgrade, you can also save £2 on your Disney+ subscription.
UK customers can also get three months of Disney+ free through Tesco Clubcard points. Turn £13.50 worth of vouchers into £27 and get Disney+ without ads, or turn £7.50 worth of vouchers into £15 and get three months of Disney Plus' ad-supported plan instead.
Does Disney+ have gift cards?
It's not quite on the same as getting a Disney+ free trial, but gift cards do exist for the service. Why not ask for a Disney Plus gift card for your birthday or Christmas? Sure, someone is paying for it, but it won't be you!
Is Disney+ free with Amazon Prime?
While Prime Video offers a wider variety of streaming service add-ons to subscribers, including Max, Starz, and Paramount+, you can't get Disney+ through Amazon Prime. That means there's also no option to get a Disney+ free trial through Prime Video, either.
Is Disney Plus free with Hulu?
Before Hulu's various Disney+ bundles became an option, you can add the latter to your subscription to the former via some great Black Friday streaming deals.
However, in order to get access to both now, you'll need to subscribe to one of the bundles. In short: that means you can't get a Disney+ free trial through its sister streamer.
Does Disney+ have a student discount?
Disney+ doesn't offer a student discount directly, so you'll have to keep an eye out on third party options to see if any offers pop up.
Luckily, one of the aforementioned options is available. Indeed, if you head over to the UniDays website, you can save 15% on a 12-month Disney+ subscription.
You can also get a student saving for Hulu. For more details on this deal, including its price point, read our guide on how to get a Hulu student discount.
What could you watch with a Disney+ free trial?
When the Disney+ free trial was available, you had access to a seemingly infinite amount of content. Indeed, we regularly update our best Disney+ movies and best Disney+ shows guides because there's always something new to add, whether that be a brand-new project that's just landed on the platform or an older offering that's somehow never been a part of one of these guides.
The Walt Disney Company owns plenty of popular franchises, too. Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, classic animated Disney movies, and National Geographic are all on offer to users worldwide. And, as I said, new films, TV series, and documentaries regularly join the streamer's extensive back catalog, so there's always something worth checking out, regardless of whether you've taken advantage of the Disney+ free trial option or signed up to the service since.
