We saw the launch of the Oppo Reno 6 series in India in May 2021 followed by the  Oppo Reno 7 series which debuted in India earlier this year. However, it seems like that brand is not going to wait for another year to unveil the Oppo Reno 8 series.

In a report published by MySmartPrice, it has been said that Oppo could launch two new devices - Oppo Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro under the Oppo series. The report also hints that the new lineup might debut as early as June 2022. In the past, the key specifications of the base variant of the series, Oppo Reno 8, also surfaced online.

Oppo Reno 8 is rumoured to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 gen 1 processor which is a slightly less powerful version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. The chipset is built on a 4nm process and is claimed to deliver performance near to that of the snapdragon 8 series. It will be paired with the Adreno 662 graphics processing unit (GPU).

A bi-annual flagship update isn't ideal

Looking at the previous trends, Oppo has refreshed the flagship Oppo Reno series every six to 8 months.

The brand is already going to reduce the interval by launching the Reno 8 series just after 4 or 5 months after the Reno 7 series launch. If this is the state of affairs, then we might even get to see the Reno 9 series by September.

By updating the lineup frequently, Oppo looks to ensure that it keeps offering iterative updates to the consumers. These iterative updates coupled with some fancy features allow the brand to promote the devices aggressively and rake in some numbers - which isn't the case with Oppo's flagship devices.

Additionally, a lot of these phones are rebranded and sold with different monikers and as unique devices under different sub-brands. This could also be the reason why Oppo follows the bi-annual upgrade policy.

Where is Oppo Reno 8 SE?

Well, we can't avoid talking about the same. The previous series of Oppo Reno devices had SE devices. However, the Reno 7 SE reached the Indian shores after the base and the Pro variant.

We can see the Oppo Reno 8 SE launching in India after the launch of Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro. Until now, there have been no leaks or rumours that can tell us anything about the SE variant of the series.

Other information related to the series is still under the wraps. Readers have to wait for a while to know more about the same.
