If you’ve entered 2026 thinking it’s about time you refreshed your NBN plan, then Dodo has an offer that’s frankly hard to ignore. For a limited time, you can score a AU$20 monthly discount for 12 months on almost any Dodo NBN plan, saving you a huge AU$240 in the process.
What’s more, because of Dodo’s epic 12-month discount, at the time of writing, it’s now the cheapest provider for all speed tiers it offers, except NBN 25. That means you can secure yourself the cheapest NBN 50, NBN 100, NBN 500 or NBN 750 plan just by signing up to Dodo before February 24, 2026*.
Crunching the numbers
Ever since NBN Co flipped the switch on the speed upgrades that arrived in September 2025, I’ve noticed the vast majority of internet service providers I monitor now claim maximum, or very close to maximum, download speeds across most tiers.
As a result, there’s often little reason to pay for a ‘premium’ NBN provider, as you can get quite similar (and sometimes practically identical) service for a lot less. That’s what makes Dodo’s NBN plans so appealing in my opinion.
If you’re wondering about what kind of speed you need, I currently consider the NBN 500 tier to offer the best overall value of all the plans available in market. And thanks to the 12-month discount, Dodo’s is the most affordable in the first year at AU$875.88. Compared to the most expensive NBN 500 plan at the time of writing (which comes via Origin), you’ll save just over AU$408 – or around 31% – in that first year. That’s a significant difference, and considering you’ll receive the same 500Mbps download speeds with either, it makes sense to go with the cheaper option.
Dodo nbn500 | 500Mbps | AU$72.99p/m (first 12 months, then AU$92.99p/m)
If you have a large household or simply have multiple connected devices, a 500Mbps NBN plan could help ensure you have enough bandwidth for a lag-free experience for even the most demanding use cases. Dodo’s plan aims to deliver the maximum possible download speeds (even during the busy evening hours) and, thanks to a 12-month discount, is the cheapest of all the providers I monitor.
Do note that NBN 500 plans require a high-speed modem and your address to have either a fibre to the premises (FTTP) or hybrid fibre coaxial (HFC) connection type. If you don’t yet have a FTTP or HFC connection, you can still get the 100Mbps alternative for the same price.
• AU$72.99p/m minimum cost
• AU$875.88 first year cost
• AU$92.99p/m after first year
• AU$1,115.88 ongoing yearly cost
Dodo nbn50 | 50Mbps | AU$65.99p/m (first 12 months, then AU$85.99p/m)
If your internet needs are simpler, then an NBN 50 plan is the cheaper alternative we’d recommend. And thanks to the 12-month discount, Dodo’s plan is the only one of the providers I monitor to charge less than AU$800 in the first year, which is remarkable value.
• AU$65.99p/m minimum cost
• AU$791.88 first year cost
• AU$85.99p/m after first year
• AU$1,031.88 ongoing yearly cost
Dodo-ing around the competition
Dodo has its competitors beat where pricing is concerned, but how about performance? Fortunately, we can use the most recent performance data, published by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in December 2025, to gain some in-depth insight.
The good news is that Dodo not only delivers where price is concerned, but the ACCC’s data found the telco delivered 100.5% of its advertised plan download speeds during the most recent testing period when underperforming services were excluded.
We’d note that all of the internet service providers in the ACCC’s report record some number of underperforming services, and they’re usually caused by physical factors outside the provider’s immediate control, such as poorer quality or degraded cabling. So, when these are removed, Dodo’s results show average speeds exceeding 100% of the advertised rate.
What’s more, Dodo was also found to be one of the better performers for upload speeds, delivering 91.6% of advertised speeds during the busy evening hours of 7pm – 11pm, Monday to Friday. This was one of the higher figures, ahead of Optus, Aussie Broadband, TPG and even Telstra.
In short then, there’s often very little to separate NBN providers in Australia, and so siding with the most affordable telco is your best bet for a value plan.
