Whether you love watching Disneyland ride POVs, or the just-released Disneyland Handcrafted documentary, or wish there were more stories about how Disney Parks were made on Disney+, there’s great news for fans of Disney Imagineering.
Following the release of Disneyland Handcrafted, which premiered on both Disney+ and YouTube on January 22, 2026, Walt Disney Imagineering is bringing one of its most popular YouTube docuseries to its streaming service – and not just as a straight repost.
All seven episodes of We Call It Imagineering are now streaming on Disney+, giving viewers the inside track on how Disney Parks are designed and built. Themes range from the series’ early deep dive into audio-animatronics to the most recent robotics episode, which offered an early look at a walking, talking Olaf.
The series pulls back the curtain on how the Disney magic is made, offering a peek at the real-world engineering that makes Disney Parks a reality. Whether you're fan of theme parks in general, or interested in industrial design, the series will show you how these experiences come together.
Disney has clearly done some extra work here to make sure We Call It Imagineering really shines on Disney+ – especially if you’re watching on a bigger screen with a capable sound system or one of the best soundbars.
Each episode has been newly mastered for Disney+, keeping the same HD resolution but with less compression, and with an updated audio mix that bumps things from simple stereo up to full 5.1 surround. It should make the series feel more immersive.
And like Disneyland Handcrafted, this move is also about giving more people the chance to discover the series. Not everyone knows to seek out the Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube channel, even though each episode already pulls in hundreds of thousands of views.
Bringing We Call It Imagineering to Disney+ puts it in front of a much wider audience – and the platform’s recommendation engine is especially good at surfacing this kind of behind-the-scenes content to curious viewers.
Going forward, new episodes will continue to debut on YouTube first before arriving in short order on Disney+, with a new installment set to land this spring (so March-May) and production for 2026 already well underway.
Disney Imagineering isn’t yet sharing what subjects future episodes will focus on. Still, if the series so far is any indication, it’ll keep pulling back the curtain on work across Disney Parks worldwide and Disney Cruise Line.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see future episodes tackle upcoming attractions – or even spotlight some of the more unique features aboard the Disney Adventure cruise ship. One of my favorite parts of this series is that it shows the real cast members working across Disney Experiences, mainly in Imagineering and Live Entertainment, unpacking specific parts of an attraction.
It gives the inside scoop and highlights the finer details. Like any good documentary, it’s well paced, with excellent audio and a bevy of information presented in an entertaining way.
Between the upgraded presentation on Disney+ and a steady pipeline of new episodes still debuting on YouTube first, We Call It Imagineering now feels less like a niche docuseries and more like a long-term window into how Disney’s parks – and cruise ships – are actually made.
Landing on Disney+ gives Disney’s most process-driven storytelling a much bigger stage, and that’s a win for anyone who likes seeing how the magic really gets built.
