A new Samsung Galaxy phone with a plan for just $40/mo — here's why Metro by T-Mobile's latest deal is a great
Here's a Samsung deal that won't break the bank
The prepaid carrier Metro by T-Mobile has just launched a deal that lets you get the 'new Samsung Galaxy' for free alongside a new line on a $40/mo unlimited plan.
Yep, that's a brand new Samsung phone — but it's not the new Fold 8 or Fold 8 Ultra. It is, in fact, the Galaxy A17, which is the brand's new budget smartphone. You didn't expect to get a $1,999 phone without trading in, did you?
Nonetheless, this deal at Metro by T-Mobile looks like one of the better all-in-one deals I've seen for those on a budget. The unlimited plan itself is great value at $40/mo, features no additional activation fees or taxes, and comes with a five-year price guarantee so you're locked in with a good value for quite a while.
We haven't reviewed the Galaxy A17 yet at TechRadar, but it looks like a surprisingly well-featured phone for the money. You get a large 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 128GB of internal storage, a 50MP camera, and a rather large 5,000 mAh battery. In terms of specs, there's very little to complain about here — especially when you're getting the phone included with a plan at no cost!

Samsung Galaxy A17 5G: included with a new unlimited plan for $40/mo at Metro by T-Mobile
Looking for a speedy Samsung phone that doesn't break the bank? Metro by T-Mobile's latest deal throws in a free Samsung Galaxy A17 alongside a new line on the carrier's $40/mo unlimited plan. Usually a $250 value, don't overlook the Galaxy A17 if you're on a budget. With a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, 50MP camera, and large 5,000 mAH battery, it's a surprisingly well-featured phone for the money.
I've always been partial to Metro's cheap unlimited plans, and the $40/mo plan is no exception to that. It's essentially the carrier's entry-level budget option, but it still has a few features that set it apart from other prepaid rivals.
For one, the five-year price guarantee simply can't be ignored these days when inflation has hit so many products and services. I also like the fact that the T-Mobile Tuesdays perks program has been included at no cost since that's always handy for things like cheap movie tickets.
Put together, Metro is one of the better featured prepaid options on the market, for sure.
