How to watch 200m 2025: FREE live streams for men's and women's races at World Athletics Championships
The twin showdowns between Noah Lyles and Bryan Levell, and Melissa Jefferson-Wooden and Shericka Jackson are too close to call

- Men's 200m final – Fri, Sep 19, 9.06am ET / 2.06pm BST / 11.06pm AEST
- Women's 200m final – Fri, Sep 19, 9.22am ET / 2.22pm BST / 11.22pm AEST
- Free streams: SBS on Demand (AUS) and BBC iPlayer (UK)
- Use NordVPN to watch from anywhere
Noah Lyles goaded Kenny Bednarek when they went toe-to-toe in the 200m last month, turning – owl-esque – to face him moments before he crossed the line in 1st, before celebrating as pointedly as he dared. Bednarek did well to limit his response to a shove in the back and a heated exchange of words.
Bednarek won't just want to beat Lyles in Tokyo today, but really bruise his ego. Lyles tops the 2025 world list with the 19.51s he posted yesterday, 0.16s quicker than Bednarek's season best and 0.25s quicker than Tebogo's. Tebogo has gone significantly quicker before, but from what we've seen so far, Bryan Levell presents a more credible threat to Lyles.
The Jamaican sprinter had largely been overlooked ahead of the World Athletics Championships because his 19.69s season best was wind-assisted, but the 19.78s he ran in the semis was bettered only by Lyles. All eight finalists went sub-20s, which means there's no space for Gout Gout, who's edging ever closer to that elusive mark.
Prior to the Championships, only Julien Alfred, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden and Mckenzie Long had broken the 22-second barrier this season, but Shericka Jackson added her name to that list yesterday.
Having had to put her pride on the shelf and gradually work her way back to full speed after the hamstring issue that ruled her out of the Paris Olympics, the reigning champion's 21.99s season best has come as an ominous statement of intent. Jackson's back, and she couldn't have timed it better.
Jefferson-Wooden, the new 100m world champion, still has the quickest season best of all of the finalists. However, both Jackson and Long may have more to give. The 21.84s that Jefferson-Wooden punched in August beats Long's own season best of 21.93s, but that was also Jefferson-Wooden's personal best, whereas both Long and Jackson have gone quicker before. A whole lot quicker (21.41s) in Jackson's case.
