Honor’s newest handset, the Honor Play, so called because of its focus on gaming performance, prides itself on its speed and performance. Thanks to the inclusion of Honor’s brand new GPU Turbo technology and its excellent Kirin 970 processor, its performance is up there with the best. And what’s the only sensible thing to do when you have a fast, powerful and sleek new handset? Team up with a car manufacturer who’s also known for creating fast, powerful and sleek technology, of course.
Honor has teamed up with Audi in order to promote the arrival of its latest handset. The Honor Play has been announced as the official partner of the Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup, the Asian racing series where each competitor drives an Audi R8. With the shared tagline, “Crazy Fast, Crazy Smart”, Audi and Honor seem like a perfect pairing. Sure, the technology might be wildly different – one keeps us digitally connected to the rest of the world, the other allows us to travel – but the ethos of both companies is well-matched. They’re fast, and they’re powerful.
GPU Turbo processor
Both the Honor Play and Audi Sport R8 prioritise speed and performance. While the Honor Play champions the GPU Turbo processor, allowing for faster gaming, the Audi R8 prides its V10 engine. Not unlike the GPU in a mobile phone, the engine is the heart of the car, and Audi’s V10 is all about speed.
But speed is only part of it. Efficiency is also important. Honor Play’s GPU Turbo processor improves battery performance while playing games, making the handset much more energy efficient and allowing you to enjoy your handset more between charges. The Audi R8 is equally efficient. Audi has created what it calls a Space Frame chassis, which gives the car a lightweight design. This in turn maximises the efficiency of the car – the lighter it is, the easier it is to power the car without the engine having to work overtime.
Consumption and style
And that’s exactly like the GPU Turbo. Thanks to careful and innovative design, the GPU Turbo manages to improve the graphical performance of the handset by up to 60% while managing to keep energy consumption down by 30%. Not only is it very impressive, it’s also a new record in terms of the energy consumption versus performance balance in smartphones.
The style of Audi versus Honor is also worth a mention. Audi is a brand known not only for speed and performance, but for luxury and sleek style. Honor’s latest handset, the Honor Play, perfectly encapsulates all elements of this. It’s super fast, has excellent performance and is super efficient, thanks to its advanced GPU technology. But it’s a sleek handset too, one that rings of luxury.
So yes, a car and a mobile phone might seem like an odd match, but the Audi Sport R8 and the Honor Play have much more in common than meets the eye.
