Huawei has unveiled its "Fashion Forward" proposition, and the ambition to revolutionize the wearables industry by seamlessly fusing cutting-edge technology, fashion-forward design, and user-centric health features, thereby setting new standards and empowering users with the ultimate wrist companion for a modern lifestyle.

So today, we’re going to share with you how HUAWEI uses “Fashion Forward” to drive the whole wearable industry by explaining Design forward, Fashion forward, and Sports forward.

Design Forward, Huawei's industry-leading wearable design philosophy lies an unwavering commitment to purposeful design

Cast aside any idea that Fashion Forward is a surface-level concept. It represents Huawei’s commitment to what it calls purposeful design.

We see this immediately in the eight different guises of the Huawei Watch GT 4. The 46mm models have a bold octagonal bezel design, evoking the styles favoured by many a hobbyist watch collector.

The 41mm Huawei Watch GT 4 Pro appearance has a more jewellery-like touch, bringing a specific sense of elegance that almost makes it seem an entirely different watch.

In each, there’s a choice of strap material and finish, from durable sport-friendly fluoroelastomer to refined calf leather. Each combination brings a certain sense of personality that reflects the style of people out there in the real world.

This is the culmination of almost a decade of progress that began in 2014 when Huawei released the first smart wearable, the Huawei Talkband B1. Shortly after this in 2015 Huawei began establishing design centres in some of the fashion capitals across the world, including the Aesthetics Research Centre in Paris, followed by sister sites in Milan and London.

The focus of these design teams is to combine a fashion-forward approach with cutting-edge technology. And this has been in evidence since the earliest days of the Huawei Watch series in 2015.

It’s “understated, sophisticated and wouldn't look out of place underneath a dinner jacket,” we said about the original Huawei Watch. In 2018 the Huawei Watch GT2 upped the ante with a first-in-class 3D curved glass.

The Huawei Watch GT3 pulled the watch experience ahead with a rotating crown with tactile feedback, a satisfying and intuitive control method. Last year we saw Huawei push the envelope further then ever before with the Huawei Watch Ultimate, with its 18K gold case. And now? We have the truly diverse styling of the Huawei Watch GT 4.

Health Forward, Huawei’s dedication to empower you to have greater control over your health

Huawei’s Health Forward strategy is one can can be appreciated by anyone, based on the framework established in the earliest days of Huawei’s wearables.

However, it is recently we have been able to contrive such specific and useful insights from stats analyzed as you go about your day.

For example, 24/7 heart rate analysis in the Huawei Watch GT 4 goes well beyond simply recording your resting heart rate. It can look out for signs of atrial fibrillation, the identification of which has saved lives. This particular facet has been significantly improved in this generation.

The watch’s heart rate reader also scans for continuous blood oxygen readings, and monitors the wearer’s sleep each night.

These features have developed with each generation, from a long-standing base of tech, but this year alone we’ve seen the addition of dramatic new features from Huawei. The Huawei Watch GT 4 can intelligently monitor a person’s menstrual cycle, to actively predict when its phases will land across the month.

This uses the watch’s basal body temperature sensor, alongside the wearer’s respiration rate and heart rate, using technology to provide deep insights about what’s going on inside the wearer’s body.

At each stage Huawei uses science to inform its feature developments, and to use its technological prowess to benefit wider society. For example, Huawei partnered with the University of Liverpool in 2021 as part of a study to help enrich early intervention and support among stroke patients.

It is currently embarking on a 5-million-user heart study in China, to help identify cardiac risk signs  benefiting more than 25,000 people to date.

Looking in to the future, Huawei plans to make partnerships in Europe to help identify early risk factors for high blood sugar risks. Wearables features for people with diabetes and pre-diabetes are an upcoming frontier for wearables, and Huawei is at the forefront.

Sport Forward, HUAWEI makes fitness more approachable and enjoyable

Huawei watches have such a wide appeal, it can be easy to forget Huawei’s commitment to athlete-grade fitness tracking. Pamela Reif, global leading fitness & lifestyle influencer, as well as Running legend, multiple gold medallist Sir Mo Farah, both made appearances at the launch event as Huawei's newly-appointed HUAWEI Wearable Product Ambassadors.  “It’s incredible to think that both Huawei and I started out on our fitness journeys at the same time. In the ten years since I began as a professional fitness trainer, technology has played a hugely significant role in helping people live healthier lives,” said Pamela, “Huawei is at the forefront of that innovation, but doing so in a really cool way. I’m excited to be part of this future and beyond.”

The Huawei Watch GT 4 has more than 100 activity modes, including 20 professional sports modes with recorded stats to match, including diving, while trendy new modes you might not expect include esports.

Huawei has also increased the GNSS location-tracking accuracy for runners by an incredible 30% this year. Previous-generation Huawei fitness watches were no slouches to begin with.

Huawei TruSportTM offers insights on your fitness progress over the medium and long term, with daily suggestions as to exactly how hard you should be working out based on your previous exercise and physiological signs.

New for 2023, the Huawei Watch GT 4 introduces Stay Fit, a mode that lets wearers track their calories and see how their daily activity offsets what they consume. It should help many people keep an eye on their weight, and act as a motivator for people who aren’t necessarily compelled by achieving running or weight lifting PBs.
