One of the best things about buying a new TV is rewatching your favourite movies and shows and seeing them, quite literally in the case of Mini LED, in a very different light. Well, Samsung’s 2023 line-up is the perfect excuse to get your Letterboxd list in order for an ultimate viewing party. Available at Currys now, the Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K, and Samsung’s latest OLED range, are armed with a suite of new technologies for 2023 to deliver truly cinematic viewing experiences. Let’s break down the new line up.

The jewel in Samsung’s 2023 crown is the brand new Neo QLED 8K 75QN800C. And yes, you read that right, this is for 8K cinematic viewing. If you thought the Mandalorian looked good already, Samsung’s Quantum Dot technology means that every wispy hair on Grogu’s adorable head is brought to life in even more vibrant colourful detail. Quantum Dot means brighter, more detailed imagery in over a billion cinematic hues. Grogu green is especially fetching in our opinion.

Combo this up with Samsung’s Quantum Matrix Technology PRO and the image quality of this 75-inch screen gets even more exciting. The Neo QLED 8K-75QN800C makes the most of Samsung’s highest density of Quantum Mini LEDs. These tiny LED lights are around the size of a grain of sand, expertly controlled to deliver ultra-inky blacks and boosted brightness levels* to bring exceptional contrast and detail to every frame. If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to finally rent the latest Avatar, now is the perfect time to see what James Cameron has spent all his time on.

But what about that 8K resolution? Samsung’s Neural Quantum Processor 8K is its most intelligent processor yet. Making the most of AI and neural network technology, it constantly makes adjustments on the fly, optimising the brightness, contrast, and even enhancing specific objects scene by scene. Prepare to see Easter eggs you didn’t even know you were hiding in your favourite movies. Importantly too, the QN800C upscales to 8K visuals so even if you are streaming in 4K, you can watch in 8K picture quality. Add in an Anti-Reflection screen with Ultra Viewing Angle technology and you can watch any time of the day and not have to worry about exactly where you’re sitting in the living room.

And last, but by no means least, you need to feel as well as hear the explosive action on screen. The QN800C comes with Dolby Atmos technology and Samsung’s Object Tracking Sound Plus for full positional audio from 8 speakers. This means you can hear John Wick en route, even if his enemies somehow can’t…

If you’re looking for something a little smaller and aren’t quite ready for 8K, the Samsung Neo QLED 4K 55QN90C is a perfect movie companion. Just like the QN800C, the QN90C makes the most of Samsung’s proprietary Quantum Dot technology for ultra bright 4K skies, vivid blue seas, and constantly vibrant imagery, all in a 55-inch form factor.

Even if you’re watching the darkest horror movies, the Quantum Matrix Technology and Mini LEDs deliver ultimate contrast, making those terrifying shadows even more ominous and the darkness just as dark as the filmmaker intended. Every Mini-LED is expertly controlled to create a perfectly sharp picture, even if you’d rather not see what’s lurking in the background. Plus, the QN90C 8is available in a selection of sizes with 43, 50, 55, 65, 75, and 85-inch models.

And this is all powered the Neural Quantum Processor 4K - Samsung’s smartest 4K processor. Making the most of artificial intelligence and 20 neural networks, this processor optimises sound and picture to make the most of every 4K frame. Similar to its 8K counterpart in the QN800C, the processor learns scene by scene and automatically adjusts brightness, contrast, and enhances objects. If you’ve ever struggled to hear dialogue over explosions, the processor also helpfully clarifies voices over background noise so even improves audio quality as well as maintaining those searing 4K visuals.

Sound wise, the QN90C comes fully equipped with Dolby Atmos technology for ultra-layered sound as well as Object Tracking Sound Plus for full positional audio. This means that even without a soundbar, you’ll hear every gunfire and explosion in just the right place, thanks to the eight built-in speakers in the 55-inch model. The 43-inch and 50-inch models also support Dolby Atmos with virtual top speakers. Thanks to Samsung Q-Symphony, if you want a full cinematic experience, pair with a Samsung Dolby Atmos soundbar and be fully immersed in the action thanks to the combined power of the TV and soundbar speakers.

Thankfully though, you don’t need to be in the exact centre of your living room for a good view as the QN90C has an Anti Reflection Screen with Ultra Viewing Angle tech. This means there’s no need to close all of your curtains to see what’s happening on screen. We feel less guilty about bingeing already.

Samsung OLED 65S95C

Last, but by no means least, Samsung’s OLED range has had a full upgrade for 2023 too. The OLED 65S95C is a spectacular 4K OLED screen with high dynamic range - or HDR. Samsung’s OLED TVs also boast its Quantum Dot technology. This means all of the inky blacks and rich contrast that OLED is famous for but with Samsung’s highest OLED brightness levels bringing even more true to life colours, detail and vibrancy. Brightness has previously always been the flaw in OLED’s armour but these increased levels mean there’s now no sacrifice when it comes to choosing an OLED screen. Whether you’re watching on the 55-inch, 65-inch, or 75-inch model, you can constantly bathe your eyeballs in rich bright OLED visuals.

The S95C also boasts Samsung’s Infinity One Design with Slim One Connect which means you can wave goodbye to that ugly spaghetti of wires dangling from the back of your TV. Instead of a multitude of HDMI leads going into your TV, the One Connect means that only one wire is necessary. All of your existing connections are plugged into the One Connect Box which you can hide away under your TV or in a cabinet. This is an especially handy option if you are looking at wall mounting your screen and don’t want any unsightly dangling wires. The S95C is also ideal for this thanks to it’s slim design meaning it can be mounted near-flush to the wall.

And when it comes to processing, the S95C is no slow coach. With the same Neural Quantum Processor 4K as the QN90C, this tech utilises AI and 20 neural networks to constantly adjust and improve your viewing and listening experience. Whatever you are watching, the S95C’s processor is always optimising brightness and visuals to make sure your movies are always looking and sounding their best. This includes games too. The S95C comes with Motion Xcelerator Turbo Pro technology and a 144Hz refresh rate*, making this a perfect companion for both the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles. With HDMI 2.1 connectivity and support for VRR, the S95C is ready for lag-free 4K gaming at eye watering refresh rates.

Plus, just like its QLED siblings, the S95C is also fully equipped with Dolby Atmos and Object Tracking Sound Plus. This means exceptional positional audio that brings all of your movies, TV, and games to life. This means even without a headset you should be able to hear which direction your enemies are coming from. What you do when they get there though is entirely down to you.

*Max 4K @144Hz. Supports VRR/4K@120Hz as specified in HDMI 2.1.
