Today, our information is more accessible than ever. Because of that, identity theft is much more prevalent. Sure, it's simple to exchange hundreds of dollars with the click of a button online, but without protections in place, you can find yourself becoming the victim of a scammer, hacker or identity thief at a moment's notice.

That's why LifeLock is here. As the number-one customer-rated identity theft protection service, they've got the bona fides to make sure you're taken care of, from prevention to restoration. LifeLock has three different plans, each suited to your unique circumstances. Want to know which plan is right for you in the long term? Let's take a look at the options.

tl;dr

  • LifeLock has three different plans built to suit your unique needs.
  • Each level provides breach alerts to make sure you can act quickly and access identity restoration specialists.
  • From individuals who need to protect a single bank account to those with multiple accounts, investments and property, LifeLock has options for you.

What's offered in each?

Luckily, the vast majority of LifeLock's offerings are across all tiers. Each one offers breach alerts that let you act quickly if your identity has been compromised. You'll be paired with a U.S.-based identity theft restoration specialist who will work your case through to resolution. Automatic data broker removal will hop into action if your personal information is already on people-search sites, sending takedown requests and protecting your identity for the future. Dark web and social media monitoring is at your fingertips. All this and much more is available to anyone using LifeLock's services, no matter what you pay.

Core plan

LifeLock's Core plan is an entry-level option that's good for anyone who wants to test the waters with their sole banking and credit accounts. If your identity is stolen, you're eligible for up to a $1.05 million reimbursement, with $25K of that dedicated to stolen funds. You get credit, checking and savings activity alerts on two accounts, keeping you in the loop if anything suspicious happens to your credit card or checking account. You also get two-bureau credit monitoring and a monthly credit score report from one bureau. If your financial life is relatively simple, this option is an easy choice. The Core plan is $12.49 a month or $124.99 annually, which drops the monthly rate down to $10.42.

Advanced plan

LifeLock's Advanced plan is the best value for most people. It's great for folks who have a slightly more complex financial life, with multiple checking, savings and credit card accounts. The Advanced plan ups the reimbursement scale for identity theft to $1.2 million when victimized by an identity thief, with up to $100K of that dedicated to stolen funds. Users also get up to $5K in scam reimbursement and additional scam support.

Your activity alerts are expanded across five accounts and include alerts on your utility accounts. Credit monitoring covers the three major credit bureaus, with an annual credit report and score across them all. In short, you get more coverage and more protection than the Core plan. You can get the Advanced plan for $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year, which comes out to $16.67 a month.

Total plan

LifeLock's Total plan is the most comprehensive of them all, making it great for people who have multiple accounts they want to keep an eye on, including 401(k)s, properties and investments. Most notably, the identity theft reimbursement more than doubles, giving you up to $3 million worth of coverage per adult, with a full $1 million of that going toward stolen funds. The scam reimbursement also doubles, going up to $10K.

Your financial protection increases, with a daily one-bureau credit report and score, in addition to the standard multi-bureau coverage of the Advanced plan. You'll also get alerts on accounts covering your 401(k) and home title and warnings of potential bank and phone takeover attempts. You can get this coverage for $34.99 a month or $349.99 annually, which comes out to $29.17 a month.
