The holidays are just around the corner now, and we’ll soon kick off the annual season of celebration and gift-giving with friends and family worldwide. Naturally, many are searching for the perfect gifts to get their loved ones ahead of the season’s arrival — and if you’d like to get a hard worker in your life something useful that will ease the burdens of their daily routines, one of the best options is a high-quality tablet.
Tablets blur the line between traditional clamshell laptops and pocket-friendly smartphones, giving their users a significant portion of the former’s computing power while retaining much of the latter’s portability. This makes them excellent companion devices and work aids, as they’re able to handle most tasks and can easily be taken with you wherever you go.
Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab S12 tablets — the S12 Ultra and the S12+ — represent some of the latest high-end options available, having launched October 7. With both, you get high-performance hardware, all-day battery life, excellent designs and touchscreens, a very capable onboard AI assistant, and a huge range of supported software apps and accessories; indeed, if you’re looking to give the gift of productivity, these tablets are great choices to consider.

Big performance in a small package
Strong, reliable performance and long-lasting battery life are at the heart of any quality tablet, and you’ll certainly find both in spades with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12 devices. Both the flagship S12 Ultra and the smaller S12+ feature an advanced 3nm processor under the hood that delivers 19% CPU, 17% GPU, and huge 61% NPU (AI) performance improvements over previous models, which in turn brings speedy and dependable computing to the user’s fingertips — even while they’re multitasking or performing more intensive tasks.
Power like that is a massive boon throughout the workday, and it can be relied on and enjoyed all day long thanks to the lengthy battery life of both Galaxy Tab S12 tablets. Specifically, the S12 Ultra can achieve up to 23 hours of runtime before needing to be plugged in, while the S12+ is rated for up to 21; both results exceed what most people actually need and ensure that staying juiced up won’t be a concern.
Notably, that powerful all-day performance pairs nicely with the portability-focused design, which is impressively thin and light at 5.1mm and 692g for the S12 Ultra, and 5.3mm and 555g for the S12+, respectively. It also features a sharp AMOLED 2X display with up to 1,600 nits of brightness for comfortable use in any lighting conditions, and is rounded out by an IP68 durability rating for excellent protection from dust and water damage. These features make Galaxy Tab S12 devices great for travel and convenient to use on the go.
Galaxy AI is a major productivity boost
AI assistants have rapidly become very helpful — and thus, widely popular — in recent years, and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12 devices are outfitted with the company’s own Galaxy AI helper that can make completing all different kinds of work significantly easier. Whether the recipient of your gift would benefit from assistance with work tasks, a study and notetaking aid, or help with things like scheduling and sticking to a routine, Galaxy AI can give them that support.
It sports a wide range of capabilities, including the ability to shorten large bodies of text into succinct notes and key points, accurately translate foreign languages into whichever one you prefer, transcribe audio into text, help you find information you’re searching for on the web, and perform suggested edits to media projects and pieces of writing, among others. And thanks to the performant NPU of the Galaxy Tab S12, Galaxy AI can do all of this with speedy, snappy performance.
Samsung’s new tablets come with a six-month free trial of Google AI Pro that gives access to some powerful features of Google’s Gemini AI helper, such as advanced and robust search tools. Gemini will also let users create quizzes that incorporate text, photos, and other multimedia — extremely useful for anyone doing a lot of studying.
Support for plenty of software and accessories included
The Galaxy Tab S12 lineup has performant hardware and a great design, and offers powerful assistance through Galaxy AI, but its strong support for tons of software apps and useful peripheral accessories plays a big role in what makes the tablets so compelling.
They have full compatibility with and support for all of the best mobile Android programs available on Samsung’s Galaxy Store and the wider Google Play Store, so if access to specific apps or tools is wanted or needed, you’ll get it with a Galaxy Tab S12 device. Notably, they even come preloaded with hugely popular apps like Notability, Clip Studio Paint, Goodnotes, LumaFusion and Notion, with $600 of exclusive software benefits rounded out by a four-month trial of Adobe Photoshop.
On the accessory side, one of Samsung’s S Pen styluses is included with every purchase, giving users a way to draw and write by hand on the Galaxy Tab S12’s touchscreen if desired. Separately, the company also sells keyboard peripherals like the Pro Keyboard and Book Cover Keyboard Slim; with these, the tablet can be used and typed on like a laptop, which is handy functionality for folks with a lot of writing to do.
The Galaxy Tab S12 is the perfect gift for a hard worker
One of the best gifts you can give to a friend or loved one this holiday season is one they’ll get a lot of use out of in their daily life, and for a dedicated student or diligent worker, excellent tablets such as those in Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12 line are an awesome choice. With high-end specs and battery life, a rugged and convenient design, a versatile AI assistant, and a suite of top-tier software and accessory options, these tablets are sure to delight.
