Dell 'Day of Deals' sale knocks an impressive $520 off one of our favorite laptops — the 'surprisingly great' Dell 14 Plus
This machine is a versatile choice for work, college, or casual use
At any one time, the official Dell Store usually has great laptop deals to consider. But right now, there's a really good price cut on one of our favorite mid-range machines in particular. It's today's listing for the Dell 14 Plus, which is currently available for $859 (was $1,379) at the official Dell Store.
A massive $520 discount brings the entry-level 16GB RAM / 1TB SSD configuration crashing back down to a reasonable price. Usually, we wouldn't recommend this spec at full price ($1,300 is really pricey), but this is a decent deal at just over $800 — especially when you consider RAM prices have hit Windows laptops hard in recent times.
For the price, you get a really solid performer thanks to the Ultra 7 chipset under the hood. That's perfect for even heavy workloads. You also get really great battery life for a machine of this type. At 14 inches, the Dell 14 Plus is also perfect if you want something relatively portable. In short, it's a very versatile machine for the money.
Our favorite laptop deal at Dell today
Processor: Intel Ultra 7
RAM: 16GB
Storage: 1TB
The Dell 14 Plus is one of our favorite Windows 11 laptops from the past few years, and a great choice if you just want a solid machine with plenty of power. It does lack the pizazz of the XPS line, but the 14 Plus is still a nicely built laptop with an attractive design, plenty of ports, and a powerful Intel Ultra 7 chipset in this case. The best deal on this model at Dell today is for the entry-level 16GB RAM / 1TB SSD variant, which still provides plenty of performance right out of the box.

A great choice for every day computing
While the Dell 14 Plus doesn't excel in one particular area, it's a machine that's greater than the sum of its parts. You get a really well thought-out design, a decent keyboard, plenty of power, and way more ports than the form-over-function XPS 13 machines.
The 14 Plus is very much designed as a work-horse machine, so it's a great pick for professional use, college, or general productivity. It's definitely a good all-around choice for most tasks, considering it has a decent level of power and a 120Hz display. Having plenty of ports also means you don't have to carry around an additional dock in your bag, which adds to the portability.
The only applications we wouldn't recommend the Dell 14 Plus for are those that require a dedicated graphics card, such as video editing or intense gaming. You can still do some of these things on the 14 Plus, but its integrated GPU means it's designed as more of a generalist productivity machine.
