If your old laptop is showing its age, it could be time for an upgrade. Luckily, the official Dell Store is hosting a 'Top Tech Event' sale this week, which includes discounts of up to $400 on a number of the brand's latest models.

I've been looking through the retailer's sale today to find the best price cuts, and there are a few particular highlights that I'd recommend.

The first deal isn't a typical discount, but the Dell XPS 13 is currently $699 rather than $799 for both students and teachers — a pretty incredible 'back to school' promotion if you're eligible. The latest Dell XPS 13 is a really premium laptop that's perfect if you're looking for something portable.

Along the same lines, I'd also recommend checking out the Dell 14S for $1,279 (was $1,399) at Dell. We haven't reviewed this particular model yet here at TechRadar, but the general reception for this model has been positive, with praise being heaped on its battery life and build quality in particular.

Two other strong candidates are the Dell 16S for $1,299 (was $1,549) and the Dell 14 Plus for $1,399 (was $1,579). The Plus in particular has been a real favorite at TechRadar over the past few years because of its excellent performance and design. Recent price hikes have dampened the model's value somewhat, but it's still worth considering if you need a reliable laptop.

$100 off for students
Dell XPS 13 Laptop: $799.99 at Dell

Processor: Intel Core 5
RAM: 8GB
Storage: 512GB

The latest Dell XPS 13 is surprisingly affordable, even with the recent price hikes that this model has been subject to. Annoyingly, no upfront price cuts are available, but students and teachers can still get a $100 discount on this stunning laptop, which is well worth considering if you're eligible. Not only is it a stunningly premium laptop with a great display, but it's also surprisingly powerful, despite its minute 13-inch form factor.

The new Dell 14S is a great choice if you're looking for a lightweight laptop for both work or casual use. Its diminutive 14-inch form factor is easily transportable, and the latest Ultra 5 chipset ensures a decent level of performance and impressive 20+ hours of battery life, according to our sister site Tom's Hardware.

Processor: AMD Ryzen AI 5 445

The 16S is one of Dell's newer laptops, and it's a premium model that's perfect for both professional and casual use. At 16 inches, it's a little larger than some of the brand's smaller entries, but it's great if you do a lot of work and need a bit of screen real estate. This particular configuration features not only one of AMD's latest chipsets, but also 16GB of RAM, so it should be able to handle quite a few heavy workloads and demanding applications.

Processor: Intel Core Ultra 7 256V
RAM: 16GB
Storage: 1TB

The Dell 14 Plus is one of our favorite laptops from the brand in the past few years because it offers a great balance between price, performance, and value. In terms of design, it's not quite as plush as the XPS machines, but it's still very well built and lightweight. Inside, you also get a decent Ultra 7 chipset and 16GB of RAM, ensuring plenty of performance across a wide range of tasks.
