If you're on the lookout for a new laptop that nails the basics without breaking the bank, a Chromebook could be a fantastic option. That's even more the case this week as Best Buy currently has a sale on a wide range of models that, in some cases, includes half-price listings on models from leading brands.

I've picked out my favorite deals in the Best Buy Chromebook sale below, starting with this Acer Chromebook 315 for the almost unbelievable price of just $149 (was $299).

Today's best Chromebook deals at Best Buy

Acer Chromebook 315
Acer Chromebook 315: was $299 now $149 at Best Buy

Processor: Intel Celeron N4500
RAM: 4GB
Storage: 64GB

It's almost hard to believe you can get a fully functional Chromebook for just $150, but Best Buy's half-price deal on this Acer 315 makes this one a real steal. Sure, with just 4GB of RAM and an Intel Celeron processor, you won't be winning any awards for performance, but for simple tasks like answering emails, browsing, or streaming, you have more than enough here.

Lenovo Duet 2-in-1 Chromebook 11
Lenovo Duet 2-in-1 Chromebook 11: was $399 now $249 at Best Buy

Processor: MediaTek Kompanio 838
RAM: 4GB
Storage: 128GB

Best Buy's $150 price cut on this Lenovo Duet is one of my favorite deals at the retailer right now. This model is another basic machine, but its useful 2-in-1 form factor means it can double up as both a laptop and an easy-to-use tablet. At 11 inches, this isn't a very big machine, but it's perfect if you need something small and lightweight for travelling or the like.

Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714
Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714: was $799 now $529 at Best Buy

Processor: Intel Core Ultra 5
RAM: 8GB
Storage: 256GB

This Acer Chromebook Plus is a little on the pricey end for a Chromebook, but it's a great choice if you want something more powerful. With an Intel Core 5, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB SSD, this one will zip through tasks easily and have plenty of storage to boot. At 14 inches, this one is decently sized and also features a handy 2-in-1 form factor that lets you use it like a tablet.

As previously stated, Chromebooks are fantastic for web browsing, streaming media, schoolwork, and daily productivity using Google Workspace apps. They're particularly great for school kids and students, but anyone can benefit from their portability, battery life, and ease of use.

If you're someone who does a lot of demanding work from your laptop, then they're probably not for you. Also note that ChromeOS is mostly built around cloud-based applications, so specialized programs like Adobe Creative Cloud or games usually aren't supported. For just basic tasks, however, they're definitely worth considering.
