What specs should I look for when buying headphones on Cyber Monday?
With a plethora of options out there right now, knowing which headphones are right for you can be tricky – but there are a number of important factors to consider when scanning the best deals.
Sure, you might see a pair of headphones for an unbelievably-low price, but that doesn’t always mean you’re getting a good deal. One of the most important considerations when buying a pair of headphones, for example, is their design. What is their build quality? How will they fit in, or over, your ears? There’s nothing worse than a pair of headphones that are uncomfortable to wear, regardless of their sound quality.
And that’s the next important factor. Especially in today’s market, there are features like noise cancellation, transparency modes, audio upscaling and automatic frequency adjustment to consider. It’s unlikely that you’ll come across a pair of headphones that offer all of these high-end features, but it’s worth looking out for those that pack some of them over those that don’t boast any premium tech.
What’s more, you’ll want to look out for the difference between wireless headphones and true wireless earbuds. The former refers to products that are still connected in some way, but which no longer need access to a phone jack (like many Bose sets), while the latter means headphones that are completely free of cables or connectors between the earpieces (think the Apple AirPods Pro).
Both types of wireless headphones are common in today’s market, and it’s unlikely you’ll come across a wired set worth buying – unless you’re after a cheap alternative to a more capable premium set.
