LTE iPad mini could arrive as late as Black Friday

The cellular model takes a while

Apple iPad mini

The iPad mini is Apple's latest money-printing gift to fans, but it seems the LTE version will ship somewhat later than expected.

Based on reports Friday, Apple's initial promises of an LTE iPad mini ship date "a couple of weeks" after the Wi-Fi iPad Mini ships on Nov. 2 may have been a little generous.

That time frame was given when Apple revealed the new iPad mini at an event Tuesday, and was backed up by Apple's own site promising a "Mid November" mini ship date.

But according to some customers who pre-ordered the cellular data-ready tiny tab as soon as they could, Apple's expected ship date falls closer to Thanksgiving.

Pass the gravy

The iPad mini became available for pre-order Friday morning, and already iFans are snapping the 7.9-inch tablets up.

But according to CNET, Twitter users have reported an estimated arrival of Nov. 23 on their iPad mini LTE orders, and that's straight from Apple.

Elsewhere, 9to5Mac claims that purchasing expedited shipping will result in the iPad mini arriving Nov. 21, just in time to surf the web in miniature form while you watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade the following day.

iPad Mini: what more could you want?

The iPad mini is just that: an adorable pint-sized iPad.

After iPad mini rumors flew for months, the device was revealed alongside the iPad 4 (or as Apple calls it, the iPad with Retina Display), totally stealing the larger tablet's thunder.

The iPad mini isn't cheap; the 16GB Wi-Fi-only version goes for $329, the 32GB version is $429 and 64GB costs $529.

The LTE-compatible iPad mini, meanwhile, comes it at $459, $559 and $659 for 16GB/32GB/64GB, respectively.

Customers of Sprint, AT&T and Verizon can connect their LTE mini's to whichever carrier they belong too.
