We've been waiting a long time to see somebody budge on the price of the Oculus Rift VR headset and our patience has been rewarded today with a £50 discount from Currys.
Not to be outdone, John Lewis has already price matched the electronics retailer, and has added its standard two year warranty to all purchases at no extra cost, making it the better deal to go for out of the two.
The next best Oculus Rift deal is to be found at Amazon for £549 (update: Amazon has just price-matched at £499), which tends to be the default lowest price at most stores. This £499 offer is the best price we've ever seen for the PC-only VR headset, with Black Friday discounts sadly absent late last year.
At £499, the Oculus Rift headset is now £260 cheaper than the rival HTC Vive. The Vive seems to be edging ahead a little with the critics, but generally requires much more playing space thanks to its room-scanning tech. At least it comes with motion controllers in the box.
