MSI's 'super-light, hyper-functional' portable monitor is still discounted at Amazon — and I'm calling it now: at this price, it's the cheapest screen you can get for your tech that's actually worth it
Prime Day's over, but this deal isn't. We used this MSI portable display for IT management and creative tasks and it's absolutely brilliant
Prime Day may be over, but the best budget portable monitor deal is still running - for now at least. I never saw anything that could beat this screen on price and performance, and it reviewed brilliantly in our own tests.
Currently, the MSI Pro MP165 E6 portable monitor is just $65 (was $95) at Amazon. And for UK readers, it's priced at £68 at Amazon right now. It's an ultra-thin and light device that's very easy to deploy wherever you are. And for the price, there's not much we didn't like about this 15.6in 1080p display.
In our own tests, we ran this portable monitor across multiple locations, using it as an IT management screen hooked up to laptops and PC. We even toyed with some content creation tasks, pairing it with a Mac mini to make music tracks. So, it's pretty versatile, as well as portable.
June 29 - Prime Day may be over, but this portable display has only crept up $62 from $65 in the US, and from £66 to £68 in the UK.
An excellent Prime Day discount makes this FHD portable monitor even more affordable. It's an ideal second screen for busy professionals thanks to its thin and light design. Considering the price, we thought it was a great display overall.
In the UK: now £67.40
Scoring 4 stars in our review, we called it "a super-light, hyper-functional portable display that is great to have as an extra display for all of your tech."
After spending time trying this out across a range of workflows, we found it well-designed for business professionals who could really use more screen real estate.
Now, it's not the most feature-rich portable monitor we've ever reviewed - notable, color coverage is average, so I wouldn't recommend this as a primary screen for video and photo editing.
But it's not entirely stripped back. Highlights here include the stable integrated kickstand, single cable set-up, and VESA mountable design.
I saw loads of portable monitor deals over Prime Day - most of which have ended. But personally, considering the discount, I think MSI's budget pick is the one to go for.
