Mid-week tech deals

It’s the middle of the week so I’m sure we could all use a little pick-me-up to help speed us towards that sweet, sweet Friday afternoon. And, of course, there’s nothing like some retail therapy put a spring in your step, not to mention a grin on your face if you can score a solid bargain.

So, to help put some zing back into your working week, here are the mid-week deals we think are worth looking into today:

  • Dyson V6 Animal Handstick Vacuum Cleaner: This vacuum cleaner was built to be powerful enough to suck up the most stubborn of pet hair off your carpet and upholstery, and Dyson claims it will take care of odours too. It’s light and flexible enough to reach those hard-to-get-at places under furniture and deal with stairs. This vacuum cleaner normally retails for $549, but Aus-Appliances is offering free shipping on top of the lowest price for this vacuum cleaner, retailing with them for $495.
  • Dyson Pure Cool Link Desk Purifier Fan: Breathe in the freshness every day with this air purifier desk fan from Dyson. Not only will it keep you cool in summer, Dyson claims it will remove 99.95% of fine particles, including allergens, as small as 0.1 microns. Activated carbon granules in the purifier also capture odours and potentially toxic fumes. This air purifier retails for $549, but JB Hi-Fi is offering to keep you cool and breathing clean for just $299, saving you a whopping $250.
  • Sonos PLAY:5 (Gen 2) Wireless Speaker: The Play:5 wireless network speakers from Sonos features six custom-designed, state-of-the-art amplifiers coupled with dedicated drivers that deliver great sound quality to any room. Set it up easily and then stream your Spotify playlists directly the speakers. Apollo Hi Fi and Video Centre are offering the latest version of the Sonos PLAY:5 for $642, including free shipping, saving you a bit over $100 off the RRP of $749.
  • Kindle Paperwhite: Book lovers, this one is for you. Read your favourite books in digital format on the latest Kindle Paperwhite’s higher resolution display. There’s even an adjustable backlight to make reading more comfortable in any environment and the battery should give you nearly two weeks between charge. Big W may not offer you huge savings on this model, but it is the cheapest as of now. It’s available for $159 or $20 off the usual price.
  • Lexar 128GB Professional CFast 2.0 Card: One for photographers and videographers, this CF 2.0 card has read speeds of up to 525MB/s and with a whopping 128GB storage, you can store helluva lot of videos and photos. And Kogan is offering 15% off, selling now for $469, plus free shipping, saving you more than $85 on the deal. You might want to get a wriggle on though, because Kogan says stocks are low.
  • Transcend 64GB CompactFlash Card: Transcend’s 800x CF card has pretty good transfer speeds and 64GB of storage makes it perfect for DLSR cameras and camcorders. And you can save 35% on this if you order it on Kogan for just $85. But get it before the stock runs outs as Kogan has said they’re running low.
  • Gaming sales: GOG.com is continuing its Valentine’s Day sale with up to 90% off on more than 70 games on their site, including the Game of the Year Edition of The Witcher 3, Darkest Dungeon and Superhot. This sale is on until 20 February. And not just that, Humble Bundle is offering great value in its Freedom Bundle – 40 games along with 7 gaming-related items. With the original value of the Freedom Bundle well into three-digit figures, to be able to get it for about AU$40 is an absolute steal.
