With Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days ending at midnight tonight, you don't have long to get your mitts on Apple's best Mac desktop. For now though, you can still grab the Apple Mac mini M4 now down to $499 (was $599) at Amazon.

In the UK, the Mac mini M4 is now £502 (was £599) at Amazon.

I checked it out and the cheapest this machine has ever sold for was $469, so it's not far off its lowest ever price. But even $499 is amazingly good value for money for what's on offer. This is a mighty mini computer.

As hardware editor (and irrepressible deal-hunter) at TechRadar Pro, this is easily my top pick deal across all of Amazon right now. I absolutely love the M4-powered mini PC, which is beautifully designed and perfect for office and creative workloads.

So, what are you getting for under $500 (or just over £500?). This deal is for the model with the powerful M4 chip, 16GB RAM, and 256GB SSD. Expect performance to be buttery smooth here, whether you're editing 4K video or just running office apps.

Why this is a great Apple Mac mini deal

After some exhaustive benchmarking, I've consistently ranked the M4-powered Mac mini as the best mini PC overall for most people.

In our Apple Mac mini (M4) review, we reckoned that "the Mac mini has become the best small form factor PC you can buy. Small PCs with either Windows 11 or Linux simply cannot match the build quality, performance, and price of Apple’s tiny machine, and with the M4 chip, that gap has become even wider."

We found the machine had no issues running intensive tasks, like editing 4K video footage alongside more typical workloads. And with Apple's renewed focus on gaming, yes, the Mac mini can (finally) get some use as a mini gaming PC. During testing, it proved surprisingly adept at running modern titles even at higher graphical settings.

Essentially, there's not a lot that this device can't handle. And at this price, it feels like a steal.

I've highlighted the 16GB + 256GB version, but 16GB and 24GB configurations have also got a price-cut alongside an M4 Pro model, all discounted for Amazon Prime Big Deal Days.

I'm not sure how long that's going to last, though, so you may need to be quick.
